I guess I would be on the slothfulness side since not having to move is a great thing. I'm the kind of person that likes being comfortable, not too much hassle & uprooting my girls is something I try to avoid (this is coming from a guy that flys back & forth once every 2 weeks from florida to new hampshire to see his family and not have them moved again).
But really, what would make you happy? Aside from the money, would you like to move? Some people want to live in a new place, are you one of them Kittens? Whatever you decide, I'm sure is the right one. Good luck!

Um, like those before me, it depends on your personality. From what I guess you don't mind moving to new locations (heck, you came here from Japan... no easy feat to leave your family that far behind) but you might have settled down now? I'd go with what is more comfortable living wise.
The reason I suggest that is it seems that both places will be fun to work at. UK for the pay and work schedules, NCSU for the familarity and freedom.
Maybe you could ask the Deans of both departments on their views on anime. That will help you decide. =P

Go to UK. New place. New people. More challenges. You'll grow. Get of of the zip code you're in and explore.
I went to grad school at UK. Lexington is a fabulous city. It's not the redneck, white trash population that seems to be the (true) stereotype of the surrounding cities. It must have old horse farm money because I have no idea where all the money is earned. They dress up for the basketball and football games.
It's an hour from Louisville. An hour from Cincinnati. And an hour from nowhere. There was always something going on in a small city nearby that was interesting and the Natural Bridge State Park is about an hour away too if you like to hike or camp. The Summer and Fall are abundant with small town festivals within a short drive.
Like bourbon? You will. Go visit one of the many distilleries. Buy some good stuff. Sip it and enjoy. I know you can get bourbon anywhere but there's a connection knowing it was made less than an hour away in a county that can't sell it because it's a dry county.
Like horses? Go visit one of the many horse farms. Even if you don't, you can't avoid them and their white fences with perfectly manicured land. It makes for a nice Sunday drive... to nowhere.
Like to gamble? Keeneland is just out of the city and it's one of the prettiest race tracks that I've seen. They have Spring and Fall meets with racing on Tuesday-Sunday with post time at 1pm. Take the day off and go place a few bets, drink a bourbon sour and have some burgoo. Look at the pretty Spring flowers and trees in the in-field or the colorful Fall leaves. Get close to the fence as they race by to hear the pounding in the dirt. That's a sound you'll never forget and wish you could hear more often. Go visit the Paddock to see the horses and the jockeys in their silks. Place a bet on your favorite color. Maybe you'll bump elbows with some famous people. I almost ran into George Bush (the first one) one Sunday. You'll get to recognize the trainers, jockeys and owners by name which is not a bad thing if you want to at least break even.
Like basketball? Doesn't matter. You'll get caught up in the fever. Can't be stopped. It's everywhere and it's FUN. Kentucky is a storied basketball program with rich history and they're good. Even though they're not so hot this year, more often than not, you'll be there for a few good years. Plus, it's a small enough city that it completely shuts down during games which is refreshing because it let's you know that they have their priorities. It's not always work, work, work.
Thank you everyone for all your advise! I like challenge and moving to a new place so this is why it is very hard for me to decide......
Also thanks, soda for all info! I have never visited in Lexington before the interview (and I only visited for a couple days at Lexington). So this is very hard to tell what is a living situation there.......
I think right now 50/50....... which is not very helpful ....
I didn't know I had a husband's job prospects in each location because you making more money will not matter if he can not find a suitable job?

Yeah if I go to NCSU then he does not have to get a new job. But eventually he has to find one. Also he is not too woriied about getting a new job in Kentucky So in a short term he does not have a job in Kentucky but this would be a short term problem...
Wow... the notion of combining the words "moving expenses", "paid," and "of course" in the same paragraph is something not heard out here in many a year. (The governor does not like higher education, so there's not much funding to go around).
You must be SO GOOD!!
