I've always rooted for the Netherlands, they usually have a pretty good team but not often the best. I like the see the weaker teams perform well against those who are expected to do well.

Japan? They played well in the last tournament, thye have a lot of energy and stamina- I give them a lot of credit.
Seeing the USA play Czech Republic tomorrow will be good, as will Australia vs Japan. I think the Czechs and Japanese will win those games.

Realistically, it could be a German victory as they are consistantly strong, but who knows...

If the USA can get points against Czech Republic, it will be a major moral victory for them. I'd like to see them do well(and not because I'm an American). Like you Krafty, I like to see the underdogs do well.

How can one not love Der Klins. One of the nicest guys in his days and the type of player who can go on longer than the Energizer Bunny.

I take it you were bitinng your nails down to the bones in the Germany vs Poland game. :OMG :OMG

But they solved it in true Mannschaft-style

I was sorry to see the US take such a beating against Czn.. Chz... you know.
But I have to admit I felt even worse after Japan's game. X|

The USA played terribly. No spirit whatsoever. Where were the tackles? Bumps? Pushes? Go out there and get a damn red card and show the world you aren't a pushover. I think Italy just might be in for an asskicking if this US squad goes out there with something to prove.

I felt ill after Germany scored so close to the end because I was rooting for Poland. Oh well, they're out now...

I've just got the Japanese to support now. I lost some respect for the Koreans after their evil posession tactics in the first game they played- they should be running their arses off trying to score goals rather than play a totally defensive game following 1 goal.

Holland playing tomorrow, should be good. I'm lucky that I finish work around 2pm because the matches are at 2pm, 5pm, 8pm ^___^

I've only been in and around Amsterdam, Cloud, and that was fun. I smoked a lot of weed and had a good tour of the city.
Amsterdam is a great place to visit with lots to do- it's easy to walk and cycle everywhere which is a bonus.

But what a brilliant game against possibly the strongest team in Europe : Italy : 1 - 1.

And I felt they were robbed by a referee who denied them a penalty.

I agree. There was only one deserved red card in that match, and it was against Italy(elbow on McBride was uncalled for). The ref should not be allowed to call another match. You need to give out adequate warnings before giving a red card, especially on legit tackles.

I was really happy how the US played this week. They were fouling early and often, and controlled the midfield. While they did get lucky with the own-goal, they still deserved the tie.

I was also happy to see the Netherlands play strong again yesterday. Good to see Van Nistleroy get the go-ahead goal.

I think that the US played ok but they are not making it to the next round. I also thought the goal was lucky because it was accidentally shot it by and Italian player.

If they beat Ghana they have a shot, and I do believe they can beat Ghana. Where they go from there, who knows. I would like to see them get a little better with every round.

I too still believe the US have a chance against Ghana but they are going to have to give it all. I'll be rooting them. They've got determined players who really know what it means to be on a team. (Unlike other teams in which certain players think they own the ball.)

That ref should indeed have whistled his last game on the tournament.

And there is absolutely no way the US was lucky against Italy.
Based on the strength and talent of the Italians, they should have crushed the US. But they didn't.
Playing 1-1 against Italy has nothing to do with luck. It simply means the US wanted it more and were playing with a lot more heart than the Italians.[/i]
