Who told you to do that?

Prescription.

1) Take a nice long cleansing breath :)

2) Relax!! Enjoy your new kitty. :D

Seriously, she sounds so normal :cat It's good to keep an eye on her behavior for awhile but -- face it -- cats can be very weird people. Ordinarily the weird things they do aren't harmful to them or you.

You need to relax so that YOU don't get sick and poor Serena has to rush you to the vet! :P You're both doing fine. A lot of what you're reacting to I think is just "newness." It's not bad for you to be watching for health issues, but I'll bet by this time next week she'll have adjusted and sorted out, and then anything that is really in need of attention will be pretty obvious.

:ghug: You're being a good parent! Don't forget to take care of you, too!

I had a cat have an intestinal blockage from a toy and believe me, if she has one, you'll know. They can't keep food down and will be less active. The string thingys can change color due to acids and such they are exposed to in the digestive process, so you might not see them that easilly in her poop. If She's eating fine, really, don't panic!

The chin acne thing sounds likely to me too. I think that at some point, you should take her to the vet where they can address your concerns about possible worms, acne etc... How about fleas? Is she showing signs of them? You really want to avoid those! Not only will they bug her, they'll bug you too! Do you let her outside? This will greatly increase the list of things you have to watch out for. Keeping her inside is safer and healthier for her. I think you should add basic cat info from the vet to your list of things to ask about if you take her. Get friends/family to recomend one. It is good to take her at least once especially since you are so worried about her. Nothing will make you feel better than a professional letting you know everything is alright. Chances are, you won't need to take her back again until next year for her shot update. It's nice to develop a relationship with a vet before there is a health problem rather than wait until you have a problem.

I think she will be fine :) If she eat wet food usually then she takes water from food so basically you do not have to worry about :) (also my vet told me that cats usually do not drink too much water......)

So I think she will be fine :)

actually to think about it....I've only eaten twice in the past three days cause I've been so worried about her....but it's all worth it if she's ok :^^:

Do cats like to chew on plastic bags? She seems to be licking the plastic bags that I have on my book shelf. Would she take plastic chunks out of the bags and eat them? Should I take all the plastic bags away from her???

Far out. What would you rather be doing?

I have a kitten here that not only likes to lick them, but shred them, and (I feared) possibly eat them! I got a plastic bag dispenser here that I stick them in and it hangs on the wall out of pet reach (mine was from Ikea -$2). Since you don't want to worry about shredding/ingesting stuff, you might want to store them away from her.

That made me think of that old SNL skit "Toonces the Driving Cat". :crackup Although why on earth those people would let that cat drive, they always wound up driving off a cliff.... :shrug

I had a cat that liked to eat the grass from Easter baskets. We wound up pulling the stuff out of him from both ends. :wow: Learned my lesson fast, keep stringy things out of his reach. I've got another that likes to shred paper of all kinds. He fishes the tissues out of the box and rolls it off the bathroom roll. Really have to keep an eye on him. It's something you get used to.

Contrary to their appearance, cats are pretty tough customers. It's good to keep an eye on them and keep them out of danger, but most of all you should enjoy your time with them. :)

Yep, cats like to lick plastic sometimes. My sister's cat, daughter of the Old Lady we just lost after 19 years, licks any plastic she can find. One of our remaining cats has a fetish for paper. Any paper she can find, she lies on top of. And Licks. (guess what I don't keep near her X| ).

She also refuses to drink nice fresh water out of her dish, but prefers to drink out of the toilet. Don't ask me. Weird customer.

But the thing is, if they're had their basic health checkups, and are inside away from large moving metal objects and fleas, you can basically leave a cat alone for eons and it'll be fine. We wouldn't kid you about this, because we all are cat owners who love them to bits. :)

Hey, do we get a picture of Serena sometime??!! *hopefully*
