I don't think you should get your significant others into collecting. If they want to join in the fun, that's one thing. But if they're not into it, I wouldn't even attempt it. Just have them understand your hobbies and you make the effort to understand theirs. If everyone were doing the same thing, this life would be so boring. :^^:

I totally agree with duotrouble. It your partner is interested, they'll sit down and watch anime voluntarily, and take an interest in your latest cel purchase or your collection. But, if they are like my husband, even if I managed to get him to sit down, he would instantly fall asleep or wander away after 5 minutes.

He loves the LA Lakers (watching them at this very moment) and restoring cars - 1968 Camaro right now, and our hobbies allow us time apart and gives of loads to talk about while we are together, even if I don't care about Camaros and Kobe, and he doesn't care about the most awesome cel ever to appear on YJ - we mutually respect our different hobbies. The best thing is, as long as he keeps buys parts for that Camaro, I can justify buying cels for my collection! :dgrin

Amen, not sure if I should be happy we both have expensive hobbies but it does make it easier to justify uhm... explain purchases. :hurt:

My husband is accepting if not understanding of my hobby. I have never asked him to watch any anime but even so he will if it catches his attention, with or without me. At times he will even ask about others that he may like. So in regards to collecting, I feel if he wants to he will, he already knows where to start.
