Well gosh, folks, you don't have to APOLOGIZE :) . Really. Everyone has his or her priorities and necessities.

But I'm usually the last one to know (I am not making this up. Really.) so I figured it was worth a reality check. As usual I find I'm not the only person who was wondering...

... but knowing that everyone's still around and well and interested is good enough for me.

And Pudge, can I come too?

... oh wait. I'm so old I'm probably eligible for my second childhood already. :P

I wasn't apologizing, just letting you know that my internet signal keeps screwing up to the point where I can't even stay on msn messenger or yahoo messenger for more than 2 minutes before it screws up and kicks me off.

Why isn't much happening nowadays? It's because most new anime are not worth talking about or there are not enough people here who have seen the same things to discuss them effectively.

As Gorff says, once you've talked about something a few times over it looses it's appeal. For the folks like Shell, Tex, Klet and myself for example that have an enclave of favourite anime titles, it means that discusions with everybody can only go so far. Otherwise the chat may as well be restricted to PMs between the 2 or 3 individuals.

None of us are experts of all anime, I know that, but I get the feeling many of us are slipping behind in the latest anime so we don't have the new series to talk about.

I also agree with what Birdie says about there being a number of 'in jokes' etc. That would put off most newbies, even though we're all friendly, it makes it hard for other's to join in and WANT TO join in.

This happens by digressing from the main topic because we've all run out of proper things to say! LOL

But yeah, even I'm here less nowadays, down to only 9 hours a day j/k

What can we do to perk everyone up and get things rolling again?
GK's idea of having the studio sections is good whereby a number of titles come under the same umbrella. This would allow inclusions of the newer anime.
OR the forums could be separated by theme? Shojo, Bishojo, Mecha, Monster and Magical Girl... I don't know :P

I am by no means dismissing the admin's/MOD's sterling work with this forum but it needs a little sprucing up to keep it fresh in appearance. This should envigorate us too. The addition of new skins, banners, smilies etc might help.

As a whole, we've never had much varied discussions on anime. We've had good discussions on about fifteen anime. Other discussions we've had are normally limited to around two, three or four posters (if we're lucky...five). I think it'll be hard to do anything to change that because that's how it was even when Beta was busier. Even when the topics have been "general" anime discussion topics (and I don't mean the divisive "fansubbing" topics), the threads are still pretty short (except for those fifteen anime titles I mentioned earlier).

But I've come to accept that that's just the way it is. No big thing. :D

Some members just want to talk about anime more than others. Many want to talk about things besides anime. It's just that there are not enough of the people that want to TALK about the SAME anime to have much of a thread going on about it (or even to respond to "general" anime topics). :shrug

Hope I don't sound bitter because I'm not. :D

Five reasons on my end...

1. I've been pretty slow with collecting lately, as I've been using most of my money to furnish my new place.

2. I started back at UNLV a few weeks back, which limits my time.

3. New girlfriend keeps me distracted :flasher:

4. I don't collect or like Naruto that much, so I am pretty much left out of 50% of the threads on this board.

5. I tend to catch up with folks on RS chat, which is pretty much a place rife with free speech and fun. I do agree that the mods here have had itchy trigger fingers lately.
Time is but an illusion. Lunch time...doubly so.

I've seen a forum that has a so-called "Bakabakshii" section. It's where the all-humor, just-screwing around threads get transferred or get started so that there's less accusations of post padding on the board. No posts in the "Bakabakashii" forum count toward your post total.

I wonder if something like that might have helped in any of the previously aforementioned situations. ?^_^?

Actually Keropi, that's a fabulous idea. I'm definitely taking note of that for the next discussion we have about updating the board.
