We all clearly know what the problems are. Parents who don't understand what it means to be parents. Apathetic teachers and administrators who love to thump their "chest of the children" when it suits themselves. And a lawsuit happy/lawsuit fearful society.
Kids can't be kids for fear of getting sued.
Some parents are lave, some parents are ill trained, some expect society to raise their children.
Teachers, administrators, school office personnel, and sports coaches who are there for the buck or the title and leave children to rot on the vine.
I think the letter was more satirical than anything. If you emulate the list these days you are a "bad parent" however that's how our parents raised us. That means most of us here had "bad parents" by today's standards, even though we obviously know it's not true.
And we survived

I was in a child psych class a couple of years ago, wherein my cohorts were HORRIFIED to learn that my parents had SPANKED me when I was a child.

and so it goes
