To Heart 2 ep.13 (okay - 5.4):
This was the final episode and I thought it was fairly flat. I suppose I'm spoiled on the game's story, but I don't care much for the way they wrote the story in the final four episodes.

Episode 11 left something hanging at the end that was never brought up again. It was as if the anime producers planned on going in one direction, but then changed their minds and went the other way instead. What the heck was that all about?

The next episode was a "compilation episode". It summarized what happened earlier in the show, but there didn't seem to be any reason for them to have it because this series is so short and there wasn't any reason to know what happened earlier.

Making up imaginary reasons why they might have produced it:

1. The anime makers found they had less money than what they budgeted for so they decided to save money. :D

2. A major problem came up and they decided to discard what they wanted to do for episode 12 and have this compilation episode because of its LOW cost. Without the continuing build up of tension in the discarded episode, they made the ending less dramatic so that final girl's events wouldn't appear to spring up from nowhere. By doing this they also leave themselves open for a second season. The problem with this imaginary theory is that the anime already went partially into the final girl's game ending story and if there's another season they would have to make up another ending. (Made up filler story. Oh boy. X| )

3. They wanted fourteen episodes so that they could put the series on seven R2 DVDs at two episodes each like the Kakyuusei TV series (thirteen episodes + bonus episode). :?

Whatever the real reasons are, this anime has disappointed the gamers. In the fourteen episodes of this show, we had two "made up" episodes and one compilation episode. That makes this (technically) an ELEVEN episode series. They didn't even do a good job at telling the final girl's story. Instead of her emotional, tearfilled game ending story, we got a scene in the anime that felt more like a misunderstanding (something that happens DURING the anime and not at the END of the anime). Oh well...whatever. That's life eh. ***shrugs*** :shrug

Gantz: Vol. 9: Judge, Jury and Executioner, so good! Can't wait for the final disc to be released!

Watched "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" again with a friends 6 year old. It still is a good anime.

Magikano 1 (okay/fair - 5.2):
http://www.magikano.com/
http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,3552 ... ikano.html
Genre: Seinen, Comedy, Romance, Magic.
This show was pretty wacky (especially the latter part). The male lead looks like a Generic Male Lead (TM) Keitaro-like (from Love Hina) guy. Some of the jokes I thought were funny, but I didn't like it enough to feel that strongly for it. The parts Ayumi was using her magic looked kinda neat (esp. the look of her eyes), but this show lacks a real hook to get me to stick with it. I'll have to see how much I like the second episode.

Kagihime Monogatari - Eikyuu Alice Rinbukyoku ("Kagimono") 1 (okay/fair - 5.2)
http://www.kagihime.jp/
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... hp?id=6027
Genre: Seinen
This is a fanservicey seinen magical girl anime. The magical girls have bunny ears. I was trying to find the character designer for this anime online, but wasn't able to. At first glance, I thought the character designs MIGHT have been done by a female character designer. I can't quite place what the character designs remind me of. The characters looked slightly Utena-ish in the face and eyes.

Overall I'd say I thought it was okay. It didn't excite me too much, but I did somewhat like the European inspired setting. The action scenes I thought were pretty ordinary, but I really doubt the action is what's supposed to attract viewers to this show. :^^: I'll probably watch another episode of this.

Ah My Goddess TV 26 (unaired episode)(decent - 5.6):
I enjoyed this one. I thought it was a pretty cute Sculd episode. The ending was cliche, but it was expected so it didn't detract from my enjoyment of it. I wonder why the last two episodes went unaired? ?^_^?

Shakugan no Shana 13 (decent/fairly good - 5.7):
I forgot to take notes while I was watching this. So I can't come up with anything to say about it. Uh...nice character development? :shrug

Shuffle! 24 (decent/fairly good - 5.7):
I was already "spoilered" on the first half of it so the impact was lost on me. I thought the characters faces for the last episode didn't look well drawn. This episode had a lot of scenes from game CGs that I was hoping to see before the show ended. It was a nice touch of game fan "fanservice" if you will. The ending of this episode felt like the closing of a live action movie that I didn't want to end. :( There were some enjoyable scenes in the closing credits. I suggest picking a fansub (like AnimeU's) that displays the "sponsor" opening and closing scenes with the ship Rin was building. They did something differently with them this time (the opening ship scene of episode 24 is similar to the closing ship scene of episode 23). I was sorry to see this show end because it was a pretty fun show. :(

Lemon Angel Project 1 (okay/fair - 5.2):
http://www.lemon-angel-project.com/
http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,3576 ... l_pro.html
This is the ?eighth new non-kids anime of the January-March season. I thought it was alright even if the main girl is somewhat annoying. But I just about never get into performance/creative arts centered plots (except for Full Moon...sort of) so I don't think I'll be watching more of this. The story was dated July 11, 2017 (the twenty sixth anniversary of the total solar eclipse over Hawaii :^^: ). It seems the date given in the anime description at AnimeNfo was inaccurate. :?

Rakugo Tennyo Oyui 1 (so-so - 4.8 ) :
http://www.rakugo-tennyo.com/
http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,3482 ... nyo_o.html
Genre: Shounen
This show, because of the character designs, makes me think of a cross between Happy Seven and Moeyo-ken. The anime character designs look alright and I like the traditional Japanese closing song (I don't hear those kinds of songs very often). On the other hand, I had an almost irrepressible urge to skip through the second half. This anime isn't for me. :?

Fate/Stay Night 1 (decent - 5.6):
http://www.staynight.com/
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... hp?id=5394
Nice to see that the animation quality drop between the preview and the anime wasn't as large as Shakugan no Shana's. Now the bad news...Fate/Stay Night from all the reports I've heard is only supposed to be thirteen episodes long (anyone heard any differently?). That means the chance of the ending being mediocre has multiplied. That's a real shame. :bawl

Note: Sakura and Rin look very nice in this anime. :D :love2

EDIT Monday January 9th, 2006 9:56 AM PST:

Kage Kara Mamoru! (okay/fair - 5.2):
http://www.aniplex.co.jp/kagemamo/
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... hp?id=6114
Genre: Seinen
The characters shown running in the opening of Kage Kara Mamoru of reminded me of Ranma 1/2's opening from ages ago. So far, this seems to be a ninja parody farce (with less emphasis on "farce"). The character designs look rather average. Excluding the ninja aspect, Mamoru and Yuna's relationship reminds me of the relationship between Aoi and the guy from Tenkousei. The characters voices made me wonder where I had heard them previously so I looked them up and:

Mamoru - Atsushi Kisaichi (Yuuichi in Kanon)
Yuna ---- Mai Nakahara (Mai in Mai Hime)
mother -- Miki Itou (Asa in Shuffle!)

Atsushi Kisaichi I recognized right away, but the other two I couldn't quite figure out. :emb

I wasn't blown away by this, but I'll watch another episode just to see where it's heading.

Tactical Roar 1 (fair - 5.1):
http://www.tactical-roar.com/
This show has more fanservice and is sillier than I figured it would be from reading the story synopsis of the anime. There's a lot of obvious CG used during the missile scenes. Unfortunately I wasn't able to into this. None of the characters really interested me. And what's up with all the upward camera pans? All these camera pans going from lower body to chest on upward shots are distracting. :?
