The Happy Halloween Scary Story That Everyone Should Cont...

Post by BleedingOrange »

Hi. Welcome to:
The Happy Halloween Scary Story That Everyone Should Contribute to Game!

The idea? I'll start a scary story and then someone else jumps in and posts a continuation of that story. Make sure you leave a cliff hanger or something so it can give the next person somewhere to start! The story ends on Nov. 1st I guess! Just keep posting until then! Hope this is in the right section of beta. Just trying to have some Halloween fun!

Here we go:

Click. Click. Click. Each footstep he took on the cold stone walkway echoed into the still of the night. The only sound he could hear besides that was the gusts of cold winds rustling fallen leaves about the ground. Click. Click. Click. He stops. He says to himself, "Ok Joshua... you've got to get over this! There's nothing behind you!" He slowly turns his head around and looks back. A few leaves scatter and the wind howls in quite whispers. "Nothing." He keeps walking. You see, Joshua has forever been terrified that something, something un-natural, lurks about the streets of his town. It is a very old town with very old houses, a maze of streets and old stone sidewalks with grass growing up between them. Heck, there's even a cemetary right smack in the middle with a giant clock tower in the middle. Josh continues to walk along the path to his house, he curses himself for staying at his friend Scott's too late. Then he comes to it.

The only way between his house and Scott's is to pass near the cemetary; however, it is much shorter to just go through it. Arguing with himself, he realizes there is nothing to be afraid of. "Just a bunch of dead people in the grou-ok that is pretty scary," he thinks. Despite all that, he takes a deep breathe and bravely ventures through it. There is a big hill you have to walk up first, at the top of the hill is the creepy old clock tower. They say that the clock tower is actually the crypt of the richest man in town, who erected it just as a lasting impression of how powerful and rich he really was. But none of that matters to Josh, who begins to run instead of walk as the surroundings get creepier and creepier, playing with his mind. All of the sudden the ground shakes slightly and the bellowing sound of music surrounds him... the clock begins to strike the time and startles Josh, he falls to the ground, landing on his chest. Shaken up but not hurt, he begins to stand back up. The clock continues to chime.... dong.... dong.... dong..... dong.................... "10 o'clock... gotta get home!" He dusts himself off and calms himself down. No need to be so nervous, right?

But then... a loud clank startles him again, the sound of a door handle violently turning. The wind picks up and an enormous wind blows all the trees, leaves and his jacket in the direction of the tower. An old wooden door on the front of the tower slowly creaks itself open...

Hope you don't mind... Hey, it's not Nov 1st in Hawaii yet! Besides, scary stories are good all year long. Or every day can be Halloween. Whichever you prefer.

===================

Common sense would dictate that he would leave the jacket that was sliding along a sporadic path towards the tower. He'd run past the tower, down the hill, and out the other side of the cemetery...

"Hey kid, this jacket's special. It's worn sure, but this was your pop's favorite jacket before he was drafted. You'll be big enough to wear it someday."

Josh ran towards the tower, feet thudding against the dry earth. Joining track wouldn't be for nothing...! He pumped harder, gravestones flashing by the corners of his eyes. A few feet from the tumbling jacket, he dove, fingertips brushing against a brown leather sleeve. A mirror replaced the sleeve, and Josh's arm, followed by his face, smashed into it.

"What the hell...?"

His body trembled as he pushed himself off the ground. Blood trickled from a gash in his forehead, cuts in his arm. Josh was standing right before the door of the tower, which was open to reveal a mirror laced with cracks. He spun around, but his jacket had vanished from sight.

A small piece of the mirror fell out and bounced against the dirt path that traveled from the tower entrance to the bottom of the hill. Another piece fell. Another...and another. The mirror was slowly crumpling. Josh's eyes were hypnotized, even though the only thing behind the growing cracks seemed to be darkness...

A small whispering breeze escaped the cracks. It almost sounded like...

"Joshua..."

The mirror collapsed with a crashing roar.

BleedingOrange: Sorry I wasn't around earlier yesterday so we could play for real. It was a good idea.

Cloud: Eh... thanks for trying to help...I think.

"[A literary version of] Cloud's evil twin popped out from the open tower door and snapped its fingers, turning our protagonist into a dancing Gir. The two Gir look-a-likes boogied through the cemetary all night long."
