WTF?! Maybe one of you have a clue. . .

Post by kisara »

I keep getting a notice from Yahoo! about terminating my account. My new one. It's as if I've asked them to terminate it and they are trying to confirm it with me. I keep responding that I do not wish to terminate. They accept. But then I keep getting notices. WTF?! I can't see where my account has been hacked. I've changed my password countless times in the last week. Anyone have a clue why this might be happening? I'm at a loss.

That sounds rather scammy to me, Kate.... like the countless ebay "official" notifications I get all the time saying they're going to suspend my account if I don't contact them right away. Are you suuuure it's really from Yahoo? You're not clicking some link right in their email, are ya?... You're going to the main home page and logging securely in and going to your account, and they're telling you in there that you are being terminated?

Whatever is going on, that's frustrating!! Good luck getting it all straightened out!!

Yeah. I thought so to and haven't responded to the latest. But it does say, according to the Yahoo! key thing, that the message did originate from Yahoo! Anyhoo. . . .

You are very astute.

^^ agrees with shellie - try to look at any links in the emails to see if they're legit links. that's a #1 clue that it's a scam e-mail to be ignored.

A #1 clue that it is a scam e-mail to be ignored is a terrible thing to waste.

Yahoo! DomainKeys has confirmed that this message was sent by yahoo.com

That's the little message in my "from" address box. And the email does look legit. No mispellings. Links all check-out.

How odd! Are these messages coming to the same yahoo account they're referring to? :?

I would try forwarding the message to spoof@Yahoo.com and let Yahoo check it out and then truly let you know if it's real.

I get these "Phising" emails from fake ebay & paypal scammers all the time hoping someone would log in thus capturing your info.
