alright a few days ago some of my friends came into where i work and had asked me if i was going to go with them to an up coming anime con and to which my reply was "yes." i mean i dont have to pay for anyone other then myself and mind you this is a first so of course i jumped on it. now the heart of the problem is there all going to go in costume, and they appearntly want me to as well. heres a bit of confesion i have hardly for the past year or so watched anime. so if any one would be kind enough to give me any suggestions id be really grateful.

Well not having watched any anime for the past year shouldn't be a problem, just dress up as someone who you:

(i) would enjoy dressing up as (can relate to/get into character or just a fave char of yours)

(ii) can find/make a costume for (time/cost/difficulty are all factors to consider)

(ii) least important, but it can help if you look/resemble the anime character, so what/who do you look like?

I don't costume myself, but it does look like fun, but these are all pointers I guess you can consider...but most importantly have fun. Judging from your avatar and email address, maybe someone from Tenchi? I mean, are your friends dressing up as individuals or as a group? As you could dress up as a group and go together, that way it could be more fun and as a group you'll be more recognisable and make the bigger impact.

As Ronin said above.
There's no need to go dressed up as a new anime character, you get cosplayers going as characters that have been seen in games/anime stretching back decades, there's no 'rules' on era.

Even if some people don't recognize your interpretation, just go as someone you like and know well, you'll feel more comfortable that way.

Find a short plaid skirt and a white mens shirt and dark tie. There your any one of almost a zillion girls from an anime.
