The Cels...ATE MY LIVING ROOM!!

Post by Baakay »

/ho
Here's a story
Of a little Project
That took on
A li-ife of its ownnnnn.... /ho

Something I've been meaning to do for at least a year is to reorganize the cels. You know, put them in order by series and label the cel books, like our friends the dealers do, so that I can actually find a particular cel if I want to, oh, say, try out a new background with it, or rescan the thing.

"This will be easy," I say sometime mid-Friday, as I'm home with a sick kid. "Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. I'll just lay them out carefully on the living room floor, in alphabetical order by show. No Big Deal. I'll be done by dinnertime."

Heh. Heh. Heh. It took me "a couple of hours" just to get them OUT of the books!!

Image

and there were two books I didn't even bother to empty. Note the big pile with a black blob underneath, near the top of the picture.

About this time I'm chanting

"If I should die before I wake, MAKE KYMAERA TAKE THE GOKUDO CELS!!" :P

Oh, yes I also have a couple of Slayers cels too. How embarrassing to discover that you have an entire cel book full of cels of ONE character!

Image

Soooo. I ran out of fresh cel bags. I didn't even attempt the "lets finally put those purchased backgrounds with appropriate cels" project. And I discovered that in order to finish the project properly I need at least 2 more normal-sized cel books (I've had a bunch of stuff living in some of the gynormous sized books, with no room for growth anywhere).

Around 9 p.m. I was thinking a sale sounded like a good idea... :hitting:

WOW, I to was planning to organize my cels after we move and cringe at the thought of it. Hope you're having fun with it! :)

WOW!

I've seen homes where people put down plastic runners to keep the carpet clean, but you've taken this to a new level!

Wow.. they've taken over. 8O

Looks like a fun task though. I can't wait for my cel books to arrive to sort out my stuff. I'll probably spend the day as a recluse whilst I bag and file.

Wow, Baakay, That's a colourful carpet! Don't step on them because they're awfully slippy underfoot.
*Heh*, I remember changing some old cel bags for new ones and discarded the old ones on the floor while I got organised. Stepping across the room I skidded on one as if it were a banana skin in the old comedy movies and almost did the splits, LOL

Keep up the celluloid spring clean, it's worth the effort when you see it completed.
Out of the gloom a voice said unto me;
"Smile and be happy, things could be worse".
So I smiled and was happy
and behold;
things did get worse...

I did the same thing with my cels not too long ago (sorting and "booking" them by series, that is). Although I do not have nearly as large of a collection as you, Baakay, I can definitely say I feel your pain. I took me about a day and a half to do all of mine! (I did have to stop mid-way through b/c I needed more cel books & the art store was closed, which is why I finished up the next day.)

It was a project I don't ever want to do again ... but I'm happy I managed to get it done. I enjoy looking at the books a lot more now. Plus, it is easier to find things for rescanning and such. :)

Ok I want to know why your putting up doctored pictures :puzzled

I mean do you realy think anyone would believe you could put them all out like that and not have at least one of your three cats find a home in the middle of the piles :cat

Why did the robot cross the road? Right on.

Wow! Look at all that light reflecting off the plastic! It's BLINDING ME! X| I can't see! X| :hurt:

Seriously...I've never had quite that many free cels on the floor at the same time (maybe about half as many once), but I can sympathize with what you're saying. I know what you mean. It takes a lot longer to organize them than you think. At the end of the day when it's nightime you just end up putting everything away and feeling like you didn't get very much done.

I find I get more accomplished when I concentrate on only one thing at the same time. One day I concentrate on getting all my cels together. The next day I concentrate on rebagging, etc. It works out a lot better than trying to do everything on the same day and I feel like I'm actually getting something accomplished. :)

Lies! All lies! This wasn't to "reorganize the cels". She was doing the
"Scrooge McDuck swimming in the money bin" thing.

Image

And considering that most of her cels are bishounen cels, it might have been
skinny-dipping in the cel bin instead. She's probably been taking swimming
lessons from Perv-chan :puzzled
