I lost a friend tonight
Normally I don't like to call attention to myself or my personal life, but tonight my "third child" my dog Finn passed away. I won't bore you with the details, it was at home, sudden, and surrounded by loved ones. But I will tell you my favorite story about him:
My youngest was in still in diapers when Finn joined our family. As a puppy he followed me every where no matter where it was or how long I was there. I was on the phone to my sister when the baby needed changing. So I balanced her on my knees (oh I've done worse) and cradled the phone on my shoulder to keep talking. It was a nice pasty diaper. When I bent over to pick up the moist wipes I came up to find Finn licking her bottom and doing a fine job of cleaning. Of course I screamed for him to stop - scaring my sister on the other end. He was a good and faithful friend and I will miss him terribly.
Those of you with dogs give them a pat on the head for me.....thanks.

Do robots have sincerest condolensces birdie?

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I just got all teary-eyed reading this post. My oldest furry kid (who I call my First Child) will be turning 15 this month. I dread the day when I have to experience this kind of loss again. I almost didn't survive it when I lost my last dog, so I understand the pain you're feeling right now.
