*taps microphone* Is this thing on?
Ok, I've been pondering this for several days, and given the conversation I've been having with another Beta member I'm just going to toss it out here. I'm known for being the idiot willing to stand out like a sore thumb and ask the question that everyone else is thinking about, so I may as well live up to my own standard. (Yes I do have my patented anti-tomato shield at hand ready for self-protection, so batter away.)
The question is this:
WHERE THE HECK IS EVERYONE?
For about 2 weeks the vast majority of what I've seen on Beta is for sale ads, really. There isn't much conversation going on, aside from a couple of spots.
Even more troubling is that the couple of times something really fun got going, or even threatened to get going, a moderator has squelched it, either by tossing a wet blanket over it or by locking the thread. Some very disturbing questions come to my mind as a result of this. What is most pressing to me, though is that if everyone else has migrated someplace where there is some good humor going on, I'd like to go too.
This is feeling like a pretty cold and empty spot these days. Sure, you can avoid eBay fees by coming here, but that really wasn't the purpose of the forum, I thought.
So are those of us discussing this behind the scenes totally nuts, or what?

Ah, ya got me!
You know I'm totally nuts.
I just figured it's the winter blahs. You know, what I don't get around here.

But yeah, it's been pretty quiet. *chirp*
No fun. No arguements. No fun arguements.
So just come on over to my gallery and click on a lot of random stuff!
And I thought I was just noticing all the for sale topics because I can't spend a red cent.
(T-minus eight days and counting until my piece of Heaven comes in!) (give or take)

I was wondering the same thing, Baakay. I've noticed almost no activity on Beta recently. Personally, I've been a bit down in the dumps and struggling with my writing, so I haven't started too many new topics. (Not that I ever really did -- LOL). And, I guess I have not been partaking in discussions as much lately, either. Actually, I haven't seen much to discuss, which is a bit troubling. I haven't been a member here for a super long time, so I was wondering if this was a normal slow-down ... or is there something more sinister afoot?
And, I'm with you ... if everyone else is off somewhere else having fun ... I wanna go, too!!

Being really sick for nearly two weeks straight with allergy attacks followed
by a sinus infection and dealing with the side effects of antibiotics takes a lot
out of a person. That, topped with some internet problems for a few days
and trying not to get too far behind in work has left me pretty much dead.
Of course, being the target of one of the afore-mentioned squelches didn't
exactly help either.

I'm just getting over the exact same thing myself, except I had to go to work for at least a couple of days,
which just made me all the worse. Being sick SUCKS!!

Anyway...I hope your feeling better kymaera. As for me, I'm also putting a sale page together.
Need to get rid of some this excess inventory, and make up some $ for lost time at work.

Oh...I don't go anywhere around it, so that's not the case. No telling where
it's been and she's probably too embarassed to ask her mother to wash it
for her like she normally does her clothes.
And now, back to the original part of the thread...
C'mon, everyone! Let's get together and help Baakay smile!

Maybe it's due to my only being able to check Beta at my home computer since the intel nazi at work decided to lock out all internet sites that are considered entertainment or sports oriented. Each time I log in I find well over 100 new posts.
Some of the more fun threads such as the WK thread and the Cel of the Week have dryed up. Yet others such as the something fun is approching 5000 posts.
I did see the "wet blanket" thrown on some fun threads lately but I guess that in the one case the rule about just posting to up one's post count was why they stepped in.
Why all the for sale threads, Tax time is coming up , A lot of wishlist items surfacing and some clearing to build funds for the upcoming con season.

I am very guilty about not posting recently; however, I never was one to initiate many threads either. I also was sick for a couple weeks and have been dealing with a new job and some depression. *I'm blaming that on hormones*
As far as where did everyone go...it's a good question, I've noticed it for longer than two weeks, but was thinking on the same lines as tex-chan and this was some normal slow-down.
