It angered me how the kid explained that it was a goodguy and that it was an angel! AN ANGEL!!!!!! IT'S AN EVA UNIT!! IT'S DESIGNED TO KILL ANGELS!!!!!!
Then we listened to the director's commentary. The Eva unit with it's wings spread and the giant sword "he uses to destroy badguys"(groan) is what inspired Cy to use the knife and go to the hotel room.
