Yes! We did it!

For those of you who have been reading my recent Rubberslug web blogs, here’s an update!
And for those of you who haven’t; here’s the same message

As a B-day gift, Gabe is taking me to the Dir en grey concert in Koln on May 28!
Hell yeah!

I can’t wait!

Ack, I didn't see this thread until now >_< I'm very happy to hear that you and Gabe are going to see the concert! It really sounds like a lot of fun, and I'm sure it's going to be a great show. Now, here's my question: While you're wading with your rubber duckie what's Gabe going to be doing

And thanks for the link to dir en grey. My 16 year old daughter loves the band and after reading your blog on RS I was wondering if she really should be watching their videos...so when you posted the link I couldn't help but see what she's been listening too. I'm glad it didn't show anything gross like you were describing. Guess I really should listen to more of her CDs.

I showed the video to the kid and she froze with a big smile on her face at the sight of the guitarist doing his solo part. I agree, he was awful pretty! (We have some of their music, but I think we forgot to see what they looked like!)

What a great present! I wish I had a cool friend that would do that for me. I'm sure this will be one memorable birthday!

Gomenne ... I didn't open this thread earlier because I had no idea what it signified or who these folks are! *feels like a total dork now*

With my fabulous, encyclopaedic knowledge of these bands I wouldn't remember individual names, either. But I know that voice... !! Why??

I'm sure you'll have a great time, Uende. I didn't know anything about the band until watching the link you provided [except the avatars and quotes you've used over the last year or so]. I'm not an expert in this field, I only know several Japanese rock bands- Eternal Elysium, Church of Misery, Boris and Mad Capsule Markets.

Dir En Grey have quite a Euro-metal sound so they'll go down well in Germany.
Make sure you get there early so you can mosh down at the front

Going on YouTube reminds me that there's a few music vids that a friend of mine has been nagging me to see.
I'm going to a few more gigs over the coming months including Nashville Pussy on Saturday, Chili Peppers, Clutch/Motorhead and some others. This is my kind of thing: CLUTCH- Willie Nelson [live]

One word : handcuffs.

Handcuffs will be the solution to any of the problems we might and probably will encounter.

Main reason for the handcuffs will of course be keeping Uende from ripping through the crowd towards the stage and demolishing the security team (all extras from the Fist Of The North Star series) before claiming Toshiya as her own and turning the city of Köln in a wasteland, solely to obtain a private DenG-concert.

The other reason is of a slightly more selfish nature as being handcuffed to a beautiful woman will make me look cool by association. (Unless of course the main reason fails and I will be remembered as the girlishly screaming ball of tears getting dragged and bouncing behind Uende as she rushes for the stage.)

Third reason is that not only we won’t get accidentally separated (unless Uende gnaws through her arm in order to rush for the stage) and chances are we will actuallly blend in with the other concert-goers, most of whom will think the handcuffs are pretty tame and “so last year”.
