Beats heck out of an eyepatch. :)

Okay, so some of you already knew that I'm legally blind. A handful of you also knew that my right eye has recently degenerated to the point of uselessness, and is in fact a distraction, since what little it sees is all skewed.

Why am I telling you this? Because it explains why I've recently started wearing an eyepatch.

:crossbones

Now, I've gotta say that eyepatches look darn good on pirates and the occasional action hero, but they're less attractive on a pudgy, middle-aged writer, and they're also a bad hair day guarantee. So I've been looking around for another way to block vision out of that eye.

Which brings me to 9mmsfx, a custom theatrical contact lens company. :D After a week of phone and email conversation, I've ponied up my credit card number and they've started on a little project for me.

When it's done, it'll look something like.... THIS:

Tell me that doesn't beat the living heck out of an eyepatch! I'll post a photo of the finished product once it's done in 2-3 weeks.

Whoooaaaah! Awesomeness!!! (okay, so that's probably not a real word, but I'm sure you get my drift! :D) Sorry to hear about the further degeneration of your eye, but that will look SO great, Cindyminion! I really want to see pics of your smilin' face wearing that contact! (And I'm dying to hear about your encounters with the first few people who are having an innocent conversation with you when they finally notice your ultracool eyeball! :D)

My dad suffers from macular degeneration and one of his eyes may be reaching the point yours is at soon. I wonder if I could get him to sign up for a CoolEye too?! :)

Do I could get him to sign up for a CoolEye too? Not that I know of.

The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?

Wow - That is very cool, 'minion! :D Of course, leave it to our beloved evil one to make the most of something that is rather unfortunate in the first place :)

*seconds Zero's post*

You SO TOTALLY rock!

I think that is, indeed, the coolest alternative ever to an eyepatch.

*sends extra hugs*
*and a few of these, too ... :bow :bow :bow :bow ... because I think you are about the most incredible person ever*

Better not tell you now. Ask German Alice if it is.

Oh, good. Cloud is being all cryptic. And, I left my decoder ring in my other computer today.

Hmmm ... well, how about this, dear lil' bot:

The Bearded Man says it is at midnight.

I bet you did not know a robot is capable of being all cryptic.

I'm so not worthy... *bows*

That has to be the ulimate in coolness for an alternative eye patch. Now you must grin evily when greeting anyone, especially public officials. =)

Can't wait to see the end resuts.

Edit: Darn, I sound exactly like Tex-chan's post. >_< Hmm... oh well, nothing I can say that others have already said. Maybe, I can. I salute you as the Ultimate Evilness that I hope to achieve one day.
