Mother's Day Gift Idea

Post by starlightx »

OK, guys put on your thinking caps.

I am totall stumped as to what to get my mom for Mother's Day. She doen't need any clothes or jewerly. Is not much of a reader or has any kind of hobby. Last year I got her one of the Large Diamond Paperwieghts which she loved. So I need to top that this year.

So give me your ideas/suggestion on what I should get her for Mother's Day.

Also, post the best/worse gifts you have given or recived for Mother's Day

I bought my mom the new Sharper Image Ioner with that air zone thing. A few years back, I bought the original when it first came out, and she was like, why did you buy me that, then a month later she calls raving about it (her friends were jealous cause their kids didn't buy them one LOL). Plus she finally noticed the difference in the air :D The big ones are expensive, but there are little ones for the car and ones for the bathroom, so you can pretty much find one for any budget. Plus they are cheaper on ebay. Good luck with your search!!

How much did my mom the new Sharper Image Ioner with that air zone thing cost?

I usually go for the small potted plant. :D
She's got a house, and likes plants. Plus, a plant lasts longer than cut flowers.
That's my husband's mom.

My mom? I should probably call her and let her chew me out for two hours for not calling the past five years.

Having to "top" any gift could get to be problematic after awhile I would think.. Are you near your mom? Dinner out at a fabulous restaurant? I love the ionic air doohickey idea...

My best Mother's day gift? My elder daughter. :) Seriously. Second best, the 'puter from which I now type.

Worst was... losing my mom. Yes, on Mother's day. Talk about nasty.

Therefore I am ALWAYS in favor of living things as gifts... preferably the plant variety...

Oooh, wild and crazy idea. If someone were to pay for a deep cleaning of my kitchen by, say, Merry Maids, I'd be their love slave forever. Or at least be VERY grateful!

Errr . . . I just get her whatever she tells me to. Sometimes she'll even buy something, come home, toss it at me (it's usually some type of clothing :P ), and tell me to wrap it.

Sooooo . . . what you guys are telling me is that once I get into the Real World I'm going to have to actually think about what I get her? /hmm

. . .

. . .

Dang it. X|

Same here! :P
Mom: "All I want is a homemade card!"
Me: "... Okay!" XD

But of course, I feel guilty and buy her something too.
She's recently discovered the wonders of hot tea so I'm planning to stop by the local "exotic" tea stand and get something that smells really good and has a cool name. Like "Jasmine Dragon Phoenix Pearls." Hopefully it'll taste good, too.

May I suggest a day at a good Spa (if there is one close by).

Moms might say no, but once pampered at a spa she would feel different!

Or try one of the "item/food" of the month things on line.
You know wine, plant, flower, or flavored potato chip clubs.
That can make the gift last all year long and be fun!

Best of luck with your Mothers Day choice!

I usually would buy flowers or a potted plant for her, then take her out to eat (since she very rarely has a chance to do this) or make a nice dinner at home for her. I used to draw pictures or make homemade cards for her when I was younger.

My present will be about a week late this year. I'm going home to visit her and the rest of my family. It's been a year and a half since I last saw them.
