Question for paypal users

Post by Sugarflower »

I need to pay for an auction I won through eBay but when I try to change which form of payment I want to use there is no option for using my credit card that is registered with them. I have funds in my paypal account that I do not want to use and I do not want to use an 'echeck' from my checking account. These are the only two payment options I see though. Anyone have any ideas? I'm not seeing the option anywhere. :?

That's weird! :? Normally when I click "change form of payment" (or whatever that button says) there are three dialogue buttons that let me change from my checking account to credit card. Maybe they like to make you exhaust your paypal funds first. :shrug I always use my paypal funds if I've got 'em so I don't know how that works.

Paypal will first use what you have in your account first before any other option. So the only thing you can do, if you really don't want to use the funds that is already in your account, is to first withdraw the existing funds to your bank account. Then after that, you will have the option of sending payment using the credit card option.

Ahh, that's not good news. X| I'm saving my funds for something else and don't want to use anything from my bank account. I was really needing to use my CC for this auction. Feels like I'm in a jam now. :l

LOL, sorry, I must have confused you. You withdraw your funds from Paypal TO your bank account. So whatever you are saving for, in your bank account, will not be touched.

Yep! This has been my experience, too.

If you have funds in your Paypal account, PP won't let you switch the form of payment. It will force you to use up those PP account funds before you can switch to a credit card or your bank account.

In the past, when I've encountered this problem, I just did a transfer from my Paypal Account into my bank account. Once that was done and the PP account read a -0- balance, the system then allowed me to go in and change my form of payment.

If you really like your paypal balance then you can get paypal to send you a check then cancel the check after paying with your credit card!
