Sum Me Up! A collection game - Sum up those Galleries!

I will give everyone about a week to look through each other's galleries. So the deadline for going through everyone's gallery will be 8am, Friday, April 20, 2007. I'm extending the deadline until i can get most/all of the entries in.

I will go begin going through the entries if i get them all in before the deadline... but i will also give another day or so if everyone doesn't think a week is long enough.

Okay so my idea is this:

It's a game to see not only how people sum up their own galleries, but how other people would sum up ours as well...

Basically each person would pick 3 cels from their own gallery that think best 'sums' up their own galleries... like the notion of "you want to give 'person x' an over-all feel for your gallery, but you can only use 3 cels"
yeah i know that's going to be hard for people with 100's of cel, but that is also what is going to challenging... This doesn't necessarily means picking the 'best' cel, but the one that would give 'person x' the best feel for the gallery.

Then each person that puts in 3 cels, but go to each 'contestants' galleries and try to sum up each contestants galleries in a similar way they did their own.

The selections would go to a "gamemaster" of sorts, so selections would be kept secret. Points would be given out for correctly guessing the exact cel someone would use, character or series.

Something like:
5pts for the exact cel
3pts for the correct character
1 pt for the correct series.

I'm thinking of having the Gamemaster pick cels from their collection for 'bonus' points of sorts.

When the game is over the gamemaster will post how each person summed up their gallery and one another's galleries.

So, does this make sense... and how many people would be intrested in playing? ^_^

I would not mind playing , just a little confused on what your asking for.

It might work better as a thread here if all who chose to partisipate , showed off 3 - 5 that summed up their gallery rather than attempting a point system.

I think that the idea is to guess what someone else would choose.
(is that right?)

However with mine the big question would be which character would i choose. I think most people would guess the series.

I'll play along, though I think I'm going to have a hard time choosing 3 cels from the galleries! At least there's points for series.

The idea is to see how each person sums up their own gallery, but to also see how others would sum up our galleries as well. What you do is to just sum up each 'contestants' gallery a similar way you did your own. So yeah, it is a little like a "try to guess what other people submitted."

The only real reasoning for sending entries to a game master in secret and the points system is to just add a bit of added fun to it.

I don't want this to be made into "i'm going to make it impossible for others" thing, but an honest - 'these three cels are what best sums up my gallery'

I guess I tend to think that it would be interesting to see what each feels represents their gallery. The way it sounds right now is we would submit our choices to the gamemaster. After a period of time , the gamemaster would post a list of gallerys partisapating for all to review and then submit their choices and then points would be given for the matches.

Only problem I could see is that we might lose some iterest in it during the down time not to mention the work Hotice would need to put in to keep track then report all the submisions.

We will see how each person sums up their own gallery - but we will also see how others sum up our gallery as well. I didn't do it in such a way b/c I didn't want this to turn into another "something fun" or another "show me" thread. I love "something fun" and "show me" but I just wanted something with a little more interaction between eachother's galleries and such.

The points part of this is just an added bit of fun to attempt to make it more intresting. I had no plans for this to be -any- kind of competetion... just an enjoyable group activity.

I would give people a few days to give me their entries. Then once I get the entries of the people who want to "Play" I'll post the list of all the people particiapting. Then (depending on the number of people) I will give an appropriate number of days for people to 'sum up' each others galleries, then another day or two (depending on my work schedule) to figure everything out.

I really don't mind the work, as long as the people playing enjoy themselves.

Sounds like fun. I'm terrible at guessing things like this, but think it would be a nice challenge. I'm in! Thanks for always cooking up the coolest games for us to play

This sounds like a very interesting but fun game HotIce! Although, reading through this thread I was a bit confused but I think I get the idea of it. So it's not a "guess what I have" game but rather "which cels best describe my gallery" game? This could get interesting hehehe!

I'm all up for it! Although, I must admit narrowing it down to just three is going to be a very difficult task.

people may be able to, generally, guess yours but it could still be fun for you to sum up everyone elses galleries and such. Just a thought. ^__^

We can start the entries now even, and keep them open until wednesday morning when I get home from work.... (7am EST) - I am giving a lil extra time since I know quite a few people are away for the weekend, and I would like to give everyone a chance to see the thread and participate if they desire. ^__^
