Holy Postal Price Increase!!!

Post by jenn-b »

Now, I knew about the rate increase for all US postage. I did NOT know about the insane increase in international shipping from the US. What would have cost me $10.50 on Friday, cost me $24.00 today. 8O Now, I totally deserve to get jacked on the price, as I completely missed the parcel when sending out last week. But $24.00 for a 1lb parcel!?!?! And there is no longer surface shipping - everything MUST go priority mail.

I'm just aghast right now

whoa... I didn't know it was going to be such a huge difference in price.. Luckly i dont ship many packages oversea but i can imagine this news for individuals overseas is going to be really bad. Now more individuals on ebay wont like to ship internationally either that or oversea bidders will have to get used to paying a new shipping fee...

That is completely true EoP. I have had a couple
people tell me now that they are going to stop
shipping International. Who can blame them.
Not only that, can you imagine being an International
bidder, and seein those kind of shipping prices. Ouch. :hurt:

I have a pachake I am shipping to the Netherlands tommorrow.
I charged $20 for shipping, however, I am thinking its going
to be much higher, since I am insureing it for $400. The
thought of it totally scares me. X|

Once more? Why do you have to do it?

I almost had a heart attack when I looked up the new rates yesterday. I think I may in the category of people who stops shipping internationally. I list auctions probably biweekly or so and was sending at least half of those things internationally. But, I think this rate increase is going to be the end of that. I generally only sell pretty low priced things and most people aren't going to want to spend $20 to ship a $5 item. I'm so, so annoyed...

They switched to dimensional weight which a lot of postal scanners cant read so they must put in the dimensions of the box and go from that.

I cant stand USPS anyway. :hurt:

I switched to UPS. Muuuch better

I just shipped a 2.5 pound package to Australia a couple weeks ago for exactly $20.00 via 4-6 day Global Priority Mail. Now, the closest thing is Priority International at $29.50, 6-10 days. That is indeed quite a jump. I like how the estimated time for First Class International is "Varies". X|

How is the pricing for UPS international shipping? I just tried looking up the rate for sending the same package to Australia via UPS and got a $90 price quote for delivery by the 23rd of May. Am I doing something wrong? :hurt:
