Taking pics that are not yours? Grrrr- beware...fraud?

Post by moonrabitt »

Okay, so I was browsing through ebay and found that someone took my picture WITHOUT permission!! >_<
Granted the picture is CRAPPY! (in my views) and they even took the line that I put after the picture!!!!!!!!!!!
Out of all the pics to take!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is it laziness in the sellers part?????

I'm just sad that people now and days just take what they want, after it takes some off us time to do stuff! :x
And yes it is my pic: EXACT location of the chain, the shinny reflection, the lines down the box....

I'm not mad because of the picture that was taken, but the action of complete disregard for what it took me to add it. -_-

My auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Sailor-Moon-locket- ... dZViewItem

Theirs

http://cgi.ebay.com/Sailor-Moon-Melody- ... dZViewItem

Line after pic that I wrote:
"PARDON THE FUZZ PICTURE....the locket is so shinny that my scanner did not capture it properly...."

-This makes me almost want to watermark my stuff....but I won't..I have too much >_<

lol.. Sorry I know its not really funny but your right... He/she highjacked your auctions... I have had this happen to me in the past as well. I was browsing some auctions (anime dvds) when i noticed "hey that carpet looks like mine", then it went to "hey those dvds are like the ones I sold" and finally "Thats MY dirty sock in the corner I was to lazy to remove from the pic" 8O

Do you still have this happen to him or her in the past as well ?

Well, depending on how annoyed you are, you can actually do something about it. The link to report it is on this page.

As moop points out, stealing pictures from other eBay auctions and using them as your own is against eBay policy. If you report them, those auctions will be terminated. I've had to do it in the past. People are really amazing sometimes.

Someone "borrowed" every word in one of my auctions, but used their own picture. It was at the same time I had an active auction on eBay with my words! I e-mailed the person asking him to take down his auction or change it immediately, or I would report him to eBay. He replied I should consider it a complement because I did a better job at wording the auction than he could, so he used my words instead. Yikes, the jerk! He changed the listing that day, so I didn't have to waste time reporting him.

I had calmed down, and I would have let it go, but then I got a question from a buyer asking what the deal was with my pic and the pic of the other auction -_-......

Update: Now they took off the part that they copied from me:

" PARDON THE FUZZ PICTURE....the locket is so shinny that my scanner did not capture it properly...." -me

and they changed it to:

"Sorry about the PICTURE....My camera did not capture it well. " -them

Okay...that tears it :x I was already cranky that a seller did not pay for the auction last time this went up, now I have finals, I need cash and now someone says they TOOK the picture? With a camara???
It's freaking obvious that it's from a scanner!!
!!!!!!!
Putting the pic up is one thing (and totally wrong) But saying that they took it with their camera????? 0_0 The nerve!

-----------------------
They took your dirty sock picture EoP? 8O Did you report them?

---------------------
Thanks Moop, my annoyance level has gone really high up, I think I will report them, they must learn!....X_X
-------------------
Thanks WC, since it is against Ebay policy and since it seems like we have the same pic and I've already had a question about the authenticity of my pic, I will report them...
---------------
How dare they say it's a compliment ?to have something of yours stolen? At least they changed the listing ^_^
-----------------
Thanks guys...From now on I'll hide special things in my pics so I can point out that they are mine ^_^

I did report it. I also did not know it was against their policies to do this, until s/he took my pic, and I posted here. I thought it was Unethical, but it's apparently against the ebay rules too....

I'ts a problem since now I've been asked if I took the person's pictures, or if we are related. Which we are not. And it may drive away potential bidders.
Maybe the person does not even OWN the locket, since s/he has pics of their other items except this one. And they put up my crappy pictures out of so many possible candidates...So watch out....

--------------------------------
Update 2->
(After thalking with a good friend that suggested that s/he does not own it and may try to buy it from me to resell it...I checked some questions I got about two days ago (I did not pay attention to the usernames that asked)...3 people asked to buy it now....One was the same seller that took my picture.
This same seller asked me "can I do a buy it now for 125?" 8O
(If anyone wants I can show the pic of the email)
Then they list the auction???
They asked if I would sell it for 125 on"Dec-02-07"
Then they list their auction on "Dec 04???" Okay, now I think something is terrible wrong! I hope their auction gets pulled
-Advice????? I'm soo angry >_<

Looks like eBay pulled the fraudulent auction. I can't believe they reacted so quickly! Try not to get too upset or take it personally. For some reason this seems to be the year of dishonesty on eBay - people bidding and not paying, people selling items and taking the money and running (both happened in the same week for me). It is getting really sad...good luck with your auction!

I usually take pictures and put them on my own server.

And people steal the url and link them instead of downloading and uploading.

Then when they steal it, I swap out the picture with a new picture... lol.

and It's fun to get creative with what picture to replace it with.

that's actually one of the most fun things I've done on ebay. /ok

I still DON'T understand WHY would ANYONE make a e-bay listing when they DON'T even own the item??? I have been seeing MORE and MORE of this kinda thing happening on e-bay lately!!! I'll keep my eyes open too and Good Luck with your action!!!

eBay is becoming a resellers place instead of a sellers auction. Seems like I hear ads every day for selling products that you make money on, but never have to see. I guess this is the next step to some less than honest people. :x

Thanks for the words kaona, and for your luck!, I'll try to not take it too personally, I'm usually nice and friendly...but that made me snap ;_;... I can't believe they acted so quickly too...I wish you luck with people paying you! I know, it's been a bad year for me on ebay -_-

-Wow Robo, that sounds like a great idea! XD I could post it on photobucket with one name, then they steal it, I delete it, upload something with the same name, and it should be the same link *evil laugh* thanks for the tip ^_~
-But I noticed that s/he uploaded the picture to ebay, so I can't mess with the picture ;_;

-Thanks Carla! I am keeping my eye out, they posted the same item up again, but with a new picture, so at least s/he took the time to do it him/her self instead of taking other's pictures...It seems like s/he is selling off their entire Sailor Moon collection, yet s/he asked me If I would sell her/him my locket! So maybe they want to buy it and re sell it? *wonders what that's about*

I glorff, so many dishonest people gathering in one place. I once had to wait about 2 months for an item when I paid the next day! -_- It's so sad...
