Super Bowl Commercials - What did you think?

Post by Goldknight »

Anything stick out to you? I thought most of them pretty much sucked. There were a couple that I got a chuckle off of like the usual Bud commercials and the new Audi commercial, but really I just stood there wondering......WHAT?

My fave five...

The Pepsi Max commercial was funny.

Cute...

There's just something right about a commercial where JT gets hit in the nuts a lot.

The rats will get even...

And, um, *cough*...

Do robots have fave five?

1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

In my newspaper I read something about there being a Hulk Movie trailer new Iron Man trailer, but I don't see it listed on any of the commercial lists.

I didn't get to see too much of the Super Bowl after my dad decided to detour all over the place after went out to get take out food for dinner. I thought we were coming straight back home, but he decided to go to the credit union, check his mail at the post office, buy the Sunday newspaper and then look around for shipping boxes in the back of businesses. That's pretty funny. Where the heck did that head bobbing thing come from anyway?

It reminds me of that Jim Carrey "In Living Color" head bobbing comedy skit he did a long time ago.

I liked the tire commercial with the animals. Overall I was slightly disappointed. This was the first year I have EVER watched a superbowl and was looking forward to the funny commercials everyone always talks about.

The guy at the end of the commercial is Chris Kataan, who was on SNL. He and Will Ferrell created the head bob move in their Roxbury guys skits on SNL.

I'll admit the Bridgestone commercials were funny, but there just wasn't the caliber of commercials that there have been in the past. I think the Audi godfather will make the all time list though. I will admit that the baby buying stock and puking while talking gave me a good chuckle. But still.....soooo disappointing.

I think this years commercials were better than last year. For the last few years, commercials have been sucking worse and worse. Last year, they didn't even have all new commercials, some had already been airing for weeks.

The only movie trailers were Iron Man, Jumpers, and a new Angelina Jolie movie on the TV here.

I'm not a big football fan myself, and I've never really heard of having parties just to watch the commercials before, so I didn't really know what to expect.

But, my friend and roomie convinced me that we should host a Superbowl Commercial party, and so we did. We've got waaaaay too many bags of chips left over, and I was kind of dissapointed in the quality of the commercials. Heck, half of the ones we thought were good ended up on a "Top 10 Worst" list. :emb I guess you have to have been a BSB fan to really, truely appreciate Justin Timberlake being brutally hurt. :P One of the reviews said that they didn't realize the ad was for Pepsi. :puzzled Didn't they show the bottle about 10 times?

I've never seen any of the Godfather movies, but I was the one explaining that to everyone else. :sweatdrop Thank you, The Simpsons! :D

Well the only one I could even vaguely remember this morning was the Audi parody of the Godfather.

So all in all not a good crop this year.

To see the commercials, including the movie ones, go here: http://www.superbowl-ads.com/ (I think it is really busy because the server keeps going down)

Okay, being an advertising major and in the field, I was greatly disappointed. There were so many cliches and pulling from movies that I was in shock. There was hardly any creativity and that is usually the best part about Super Bowl commercials. Even the Bud Light ones were not that great and they are usually the best. A few were funny and I remember laughing but also thinking these could have been better. I did like the Pepsi Max one but only because I would watch SNL just for that skit. Again, I couldn't believe how many references to movies and other celebrities there were. I have to say though the Hyundai and a few other auto commercials were very good for just their copy. They were brilliantly written but I don't think the right atmosphere for the Super Bowl.

Anyway, was disappointed especially cause I had to watch them all over the Internet since I don't get them in Japan.
