I remember that when I was in Spain in 2006, they had the Spanish dub version of Doreamon on the airwaves. I would also guess that as the tour plans to visit France that Doreamon is also well known there.
Hmm..well, the US(at least, San Francisco) did receive the huge AstroBoy exhibit in 2007, so, perhaps it would be a safe bet that the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco will also receive a Doreamon exhibit in the future as well.
Either way, I hope they don't price the shirts at $60 again. I like Astroboy, but not enough to pay $60 for a shirt.
When I asked about the price, the employee told me that they had to import it from Japan and it was expensive to ship. I buy from Japan all the time; It doesn't cost $60 to ship a shirt!

I think Hello Kitty, Pokemon, Dragonballs, etc. are more associated with anime in the US.

I really couldn't say for sure about more associated with anime in the US.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

He's certainly what a lot of Japanese people think of when they think of anime, though.Keropi wrote:I suppose he's harmless enough, but Doraemon is certainly not one of the characters I think of when someone mentions "anime".

Some of the anime that is super popular here in the states is unheard of in Japan. I had a friend who doesn't watch anime, and she had only heard of about 1/4 of the stuff that's popular here.
