I would like to send out a question......to those living in,...or with a strong familiarity of the Dallas/ Fort Worth area......

Dear Betaers.....?......Betaites?.....Betaonians?........

Are there any anime related stores in the area? I know of Anime Pop in Addison, but to my knowledge thats about it......anyone know of other places in operation around the metroplex?

Sincerely,
Me

There used to be (I miss Planet Anime and Orbit), but I don't know much nowadays. To be honest, I'm surprised Anime Pop is still around. I always disliked their open selling of bootlegs, but I did get some awesome old trading cards and stickers from them back when they were called Pop Candy? something like that. There was a place called The Anime Store in Arlington. I don't know if they're still around or what they might have at the store. There's a place called Shotokan Anime on Harwood Road in Hurst (at the intersection of Harwood and Hurstview, around the block from my parents' house actually) but last time I went in there I didn't see much for sale.

shotokan has been closed for at least 2 years now... there is still random stuff in the shop and the big ANIME sign is still there... but there is no one there. I heard the owners got into a fight or something... just bad management. I remember that place being hip when I was in highschool because they had a DDR machine. 8) LOL

The Anime Store... I am not sure if that is open anymore either. :-/ I have not by there in awhile and when I did stop by there was not alot in there. Anime Pop seems to be the place to go if you want something anime related that you can not find in a Best Buy or local comic book store.

here are some good places to go to in the area:

Japanese food
Mr. Max
http://www.yelp.com/biz/mr-max-irving
This place is awesome! it is very small but the people are very nice. Food is also authentic and they have a large variety of food to choose from. No sushi though... you can get sashimi if you want.

Sushiyama
http://www.yelp.com/biz/sushiyama-japan ... ant-dallas
They have good authentic food... also have okonomiyaki!

Crepes for U
http://crepesforu.com/
Crepes kinda like how they make them in Japan.. i am IN LOVE with this place. This is inside the Asia World Market mini mall thing. SO GOOD!!!!! :vict

I have heard of some other good places too... including a meat shop that sells the meat you need for shabu shabu... ill post more if i remember it. LOL

Japanese goods stores

Asia World Market
http://www.asiaworldmarket.com/
This is for other asian food as well... awesome grocery store. They also have some places to eat in the area too. They have a great selection of candy and stuff you need to cook japanese dishes with. They crepe place is inside this mall.

Shop Minoya
http://www.yelp.com/biz/shop-minoya-99-cent-plus-plano
It is not really a $.99 store... they have alot of cool stuff in here. Food and ice cream... They usually carry the latest volume of Hana to Yume and a few other phonebook style comics. You can also special order some as well. This is strictly a Japanese store.

Kazy's Food Mart
http://sushiref.com/listings/na/usa/tex ... gourmetFM/
This store scares me... Theya re over priced but have some cute japanese items to buy. Nothing anime really... I don't trust buying food from here though. >_>

Most anime stores in the area have closed... the only one I know of is anime pop... you could always go to A-kon this weekend.... http://www.a-kon.com/ They have a large dealers room.

Thanks jcaliff and iwakuralain.

I am most satisfied with the responses received. I have been meaning to make it out to Mr. Max since I live over here within skipping distance. I do believe the anime store in arlington is no more. I remember visiting it after there 3rd move or reopening? I had hoped for the best, but didnt have the confidence in its future........ :(

Did you guys ever visit Fried Ant Anime went it was around?......What a great name....

The Anime Store in Arlington has been closed for about two years as well. I miss the Japanese arcade in the store horribly. T_T and the parties they had were the best too...

also, OMG CREPES! I had no idea someone close by was selling them like they are in Japan. :D I keep saying one of my favourite foods when I was there last year was the crepes. Thanks!
