Dexter
Ok, someone turned me onto this show a few weeks back.
All I can say is OMG - it is friggin awesome!! I have
already finished all of season 1, and have 3 eps left of season 2.
I went out today and bought season 3 and season 4. I could
seriously contemplate getting Showtime just for this one show.
So, does anyone else here watch this?? I hear that it gets
better with each new season. So far season 2 has not disappointed
me. If each season gets better, I can see myself spending a
whole lot of time watching my new TV.

It really has a unique premise to the show....plus am a fan of the main character since the HBO series " Six Feet Under"
haven't checked out the books yet though....

My boyfriend and I started this show about two weeks back and we quickly finished seasons 1-4! His favourite season was 2, mine is 1... 4 to me is the most disturbing. Neither one of us were big fans of 3, but overall we LOVE the show and are waiting until the current season is on dvd so we can watch it all in one shot

I love Dexter!
Been watching it for a few years now.
A friend of mine lent me his boxset and was hooked since.
Michael C Hall is just total win at the role.
My friend mostly wanted me to watch it so I could verify if
the show was indeed actually filmed in Miami/Miami Beach area
since thats where I'm from LOL! He tried to get me into
Burn Notice too for the same reason
(which most of it is not, just the 1st few episodes and the
scene where they showed the ice truck during the
ice truck killer arc. The cafe behind the truck is where
me and my mom use to get breakfast on Saturdays LOL!)
I have to admit I've fallen waaaaayy behind.
I stopped at midpoint on Season 3 because of r/l keepin
me busy.

Dexter is a great show. Michael C Hall has done a fantastic job playing Dexter. After his performance on Six Feet Under as David Fisher, I did not seem him as a good fit for this role, but what a job he has done with it! Great actor. I wish the supporting cast was better, namely the cops, but the show is named Dexter for a reason. I enjoyed the 1st season, not so much the second( I wished it had followed the second book, which is the best of the series.) Third got better, and the Fourth was a marvelous dance. This season has its ups and downs, but it hasnt all unfolded yet though I do so hope.......
....I would do it myself, but......no one would root for me as they do Dex!

AHHH Me toooo! I thought the tension between Doakes and Dexter was divine script writing. I loved how Dex was always 2 steps ahead of him. However, I DO NOT miss that crazy British bitch at the least! I couldn't stand her character , she just didn't seem realistic at all, even for a stalker-serial arsenist with a loose screw. @_@ |

Someone I worked with got me started on Dexter this last summer. I really enjoyed the first season but was really disappointed in the second season. I think it's because I prefer him as an emotionally detached character, and it seems to be moving away from that. I have been reluctant to watch the third season because of this.
That's exactly why I stopped watching the show! I felt like they were making him too 'human' and it kind of lost his original characterization...graymouser wrote:Someone I worked with got me started on Dexter this last summer. ..And then I felt like a horrible person for being annoyed that a character wasn't a completely detached sociopath, heh.
I did enjoy it in the very begining though. And I have a problem with enjoying both book and tv versions of things. I usually perfer whichever version I'm exposed to first. I thought the books were really good even though I eventually wimped out from them.

After reading this thread I ordered Dexter from Netflix...I'm total hooked. I've only watched the first 2 DVDs, but can't wait for the next one to show up.
Thanks again Gonzai for getting me hooked on something good to watch.
