Trip down Memory Lane
I'm sure this has been done before, but well I thought it wouldn't hurt to start a new topic!
For some reason I've stated rooting about on the Tube for old treasures from my childhood. It's not really Japanese oriented but just more a random pastiche of the founding pillars of my childhood viewing (or at least the most memorable intro tunes). 80/90's cartoons were just the bomb and the quality of animation in alot of them actually surprises me even now. Man it also reminded me of the amount of childhood crushes I had on various characters
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29l0xAAJT8Y
It's a no brainer but none the less a masterclass in animation intros from Thundercats, I can't think of an intro that can top this in terms of the proportion of excitment offered/delivered.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wR65P73X ... re=channel
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaMo4k7iG7s
Theses two should of course go together (And might as well have been called Body Builder and Super Model). I love the way He Man punches the screen! The last one is their not so good and short lived successor.

Two offerings from Disney, they had the most amazing theme tunes Tailspin particually. From this we can learn that Chipmonks pull of drag better then bears, take from that what you will...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnCpMHKCasU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9dkqXq8-AE
Two British specimins from Cosgrove Hall, they did awesome cartoons back in the day.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZ4c1X5ene8
This is one of my personnal faves the French/Japanese collaboration that resulted in Ulesses 31. It used to kind of freak me out as a kid, mainly because it dealt with quite uncanny myths woven together from a medley of Greek themes.
A minor disclaimer, I have before anyone says anything only watched the intro's.
So there you have it my childhood cartoon viewing condensed. I know there are tons of ommissions, but there were just too many So feel free to add you own, I'm curious to see what folkes come up with

Meh, I'm one of those people that never grew up...
So, here are my favorite offerings..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkO87mkgcNo
("And. That's an additive, like this AND that. But. That's sort of an opposite. Not this BUT that. And then there's OR. O-R. When you have a choice like not this BUT that.")
Since even Haruhi is now being considered as an old school anime, I figure stuff from the 1990s is pratically a relic now...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKrwlgiYn-c
(I am guilty of playing this song at work. Because they're all monkeys.)
And, because it's important to respect our friends across the Atlantic..

Loads of shows I loved have already been listed but I remembered a few that haven't been mentioned as of yet.
Denver The Last Dinosaur.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1fUqSQFdAI
Captain Planet (I was too young to understand global pollution so the point was missed on me - I just liked the action).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpXM9bj-WPU
And this isn't a cartoon but I brought it up in conversation with friends recently... Clarissa Explains It All.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9gQD6i4htU
I can pick at something from everyone's lists, too but I forgot about Biker Mice From Mars until now. I remember going through a phase years later in my teen years where I wanted to learn mechanics. I blame subliminal messaging due to the fact there was a female mechanic character that had the same name as me haha!
I loved Disney back then, too. Chip n Dale was one of my favourites. n.n

Ha ha man loads of greatness here.
Nene you went straight for the jugular with your first post, Trapdoor was mint! My friend had an original Burt, I was really jealous, but alas it got destroyed by his brother in one of his many tantrums.
Joost, I hope it was Adam in his pink tunic mid moralism of the week!
I was an Animaniacs fan too Cutiebunny, the concept of Pinky and the Brain still amuses me now. As for Conjunction Junction, that didn't travel over here we had to make do with Pidgeon Street and Chocabloc and of course Seseme Street for our learning. I did include Danger Mouse alongside Count Duckula though I didn't label them.
Massacrist Manslayer you win points for firstly showing two cartoons that I'd never come accross and on top of that reminding me of the Smoggies. I had completely forgotten that one!
He he Guyvar III many essentials there, I thought you'd missed ghostbusters but then saw you hadn't. Anyway irregardless Janine was a fox, probably the foundation stone for most modern secretary fantasies...
So many just plain lost to memory...
Another not mentioned yet:

I remember the summer they first showed this, it was a truly magic adventure story!

Yeah, I guess you could tell that there's a large portion of people here that were products of the 1980s.
I'm actually surprised no one mentioned the "Muppet Show" or the cartoon version, "Muppet Babies". I used to love the reruns that aired on Nikolodeon in the early 1980s (not to mention "Muppet's Tonight" that aired in the late 1990s). I'm quite guilty of watching the clips on Youtube as well. Nothing like watching the Swedish Chef trying to "carven der pumpkin" or Beaker trying out another of Dr. Bunsen Honeydew's contraptions to lighten up the mood.
BTW, I don't think we in the US ever got to see all of the Danger Mouse cartoons. I remembered Nick stopped showing them around 1987, and even then, most of them were repeats.
Some other shows...(I'll have to look up clips later, sorry)
You Can't Do that On Television
(Not a cartoon....)
Gummy Bears
(The ending of this series never made any sense to me...)
Smurfs (Which, as Wikipedia informed me, were created in Belgium)
My Little Pony
Lady Lovlilocks
Snorks
She-Ra
Popples
Goof Troop
Pound Puppies
The Wuzzles
Care Bears/Care Bear Cousins
Paddington Bear
Sonic the Hedgehog (I prefered the Saturday Morning version better..)
..And then there was an Australian cartoon with cute little Koalas. I can't remember the name, though.

I remember a few of those too, Cutiebunny. Although I wasn't as much into girly cartoons but sometimes you had to make do with what you got on a saturday/sunday morning lol.
Snorks!

They actually used to put this on early morning TV before high school for me. I have memories of singing the theme tune with my mates in science class for no reason.
Oh and almost forgot Mighty Mouse.

Nickelodeon was showing 2 cartoons about koalas simultaneously in the eighties. The Noozles, and Adventures of the little Koala. Both were actually Japanese shows, but I had no clue about that back when I was watching them. The adventures of the Little Koala had a whole cast of animals that acted like people. The Noozles was about a little girl and the koalas were pink and blue and from a magical other world.
I was pretty much glued to Nickelodeon for most of the eighties and a good half of the nineties too, heh.
My favorite cartoon though was the animated adventures of Tintin.I think that was airing on Nick back around ’95 or something.
Clarissa Explains It All was totally the best live action show ever.

I remember Muppet Babies. That cartoon was so awesome. ^.^ I also remember Clarissa, Aaahhh! Real Monsters! Angry Beavers. Doug {the original nickelodeon one}, and Rocko's Modern Life all of which are cartoons except Clarissa. There's also too many cartoon network cartoons I didnt add.cutiebunny wrote:I'm actually surprised no one mentioned the "Muppet Show" or the cartoon version, "Muppet Babies". One thing I remember, and I wonder if anyone else does, is Eureeka's Castle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpnZPM99JSM It was mostly all puppetry, but it had such cute entertaining stories to teach children with involving the sorceress in training at her castle. That was a long time ago though, it premiered on nickelodeon... over 20 years ago.
