Well my friend checked out Fed-Ex and he said it's super expensive to start using them. He may try and get a Japan Post account, he doesn't know what they require for one though. I'm waiting to see what the solutions for this will be, because I don't see this going down very well.

The packages came from Yemen this time, but realistically they can come from anywhere. There are plenty of sympathizers all over the world who can ship these things. You can block all shipments from the Middle East and still not prevent this from happening again.

I don't think the Japanese shipping law is going to help at all though. It seems more like it is a pointless gesture or show (to our inconvenience) than anything else.

Good/lucky intelligence caught it this time and has a better chance than these random laws at catching it next time. Either that or inspecting every item that goes on every plane to nearly any country. Why limit themselves to the US? Of course, I don't even want to think about the delays this additional inspection would cause.

@bran-chan: what about DHL? I used it a few times via mandarake, its a bit faster than EMS and about the same price.

Wow, crazy times these are huh. I'm glad deputy services like SMJ won't be affected though. Do you think Mandarake will be affected?

Apparently Japan Post just lifted the weight restriction ban.

This is the only article I can find in English:

Perhaps they realized that it wasn't such a good idea? Or too many people complained, especially during the busiest mailing season of the year. But in any case, it's good news!

Woooot!
:woot:
Best news I've heard all week! :D :D :D
I've had some items sitting w/ my SS, so I'm sure
she will be thrilled to get them out of her apt LOL!
:rollin
I was worried I wouldn't be able to reserve some
in-store items due to this restriction-- so great it
got lifted before LP madness rolls around on New Year's Eve!
