Watch the USD to Yen conversion rate everyday??

If so, what do you think right now?? Trend?? Or am I just hoping beyond hopes? :hurt:

It hasn't changed enough for me to *really* start hoping, yet.

Xe.com says that it's currently at 79.45 to the dollar. But when you take into account that many deputy services put a surcharge on that, then the rate that you'll probably be offered will be 73 or 74.

If Greece leaves the EU (which, I believe, it will be forced into doing...), then the dollar does stand a good chance of improving, especially in exchange rates with the Euro.

The exchange rate still hasn't improved enough for me to merit heading back to Japan for vacation, but maybe a trip to Greece might be in the works instead. :)

I still remember when it was 123 yen to the dollar a few years back when I bought a lot of art through YJ. The good old days......

I remember that too, but I didn't start to import from japan directly till when the paypal rate was just under 1/100. now it just sounds like a pleasant dream lol I check the paypal exchange rate about once a week before sending out any payment and might wait a few days if it starts to go up a bit.

What sucks for me is that the "good old days" of 120+ yen/dollar occurred while I was living in Japan getting paid in yen and sending money back to the US to pay bills (and weeping about the exchange rate). Literally as soon as I moved back to the US, it dropped. I think it was some kind of karma following me around.

And all the silly sightless people came and looked...and called it junk.

I have an exchange rate widget on my PC desktop and I watch it daily, too .... I've definitely found myself hoping a lot lately ;). Heck, I'd be happy to see it back up in the 90s. I recall days of 130+ yen to the dollar back when I first got into collecting, and its totally depressing looking at my invoices now, by comparison.

I remember the 130+ exchange rate as well. It was really nice being able to just divide the yen price by 100 and you'll have a rough idea of what you'll be paying for an item(including fees)

And that's exactly what I used to do as well! :)
