Is there a way to upload gif files onto rubberslug?

Post by theultimatebrucelee »

I've always wanted to make animation sequence for my sketches, and recently I've found this program called GIF Movie Gear to do it. thing is, the rubberslug doesn't seem to want to take this format of file. Though when I try to upload it'll say "JPG, PNG, or GIF only." so it does say GIF but it won't accept gif-_-"

How does everyone else here upload animation sequence and what program do you guys use?

This is kind of a Derpy way to do it, but it works.

Take out an account at an image storage site like Photobucket. It's free up to a point, and then there is a fairly reasonable annual rent after that. Upload your gif onto that site.

Then use html markup to import the gif to Rubberslug as the first line of your "Description." It will look like <img src="url-of-the-image-in-your-storage site">. I also upload one blue pixel as my "large image" or otherwise I get a "no image" box at the top of the page. You'll need to make your own thumbnail (I just reduce one of the frames in my gif to the right size and manually upload it.)

Select "bottom" for "Info Position" or it will look odd.

It does kinda work. Clunky, but effective. Good luck!

Thanks sensei! this is much better than no way. I tested it out on a few sketches and it worked out pretty well.

I tried renaming a .gif file as .GIF but still no go. I recall seeing somewhere that RS was updated at some point and this affects the ability to upload .gifs. However some older galleries still have them even as the main images, e.g. this one.

BTW I found a website called Picasion which will generate free animated .gifs of up to 10 images with a max width of 450px.

you should use UNfreeze (the most simple gif maker I've ever used)

http://www.whitsoftdev.com/unfreez/

it uses drag and drop and is very easy...

I used it to make my Koga move
(http://melodymoon.rubberslug.com/galler ... mID=133923) you can make it move faster or slower, I just made it slow so people could see sketches :)

Yeah, it'd be pretty nice to have the uploading system fixed, I read also that the search engine on it lost some of its function after the fix...wonder if theres a way to contact the admin on rubberslug.

and regarding gif maker, there seems to be quite a few free ones out there. but all I found are the simple ones, does anyone know if theres one that has the advance option to time the flash by of each image individually?

What ya mean "time"? ya mean choose how long each pic is shown?

Jasc Animation Shop 3 allows you to set the timing image by image. It's not free, but $19.95 for a download is quite reasonable considering that it is very easy to learn and use.
