Japanese name transliteration help NM GOT IT!

I'm trying to identify the animator who supervised an episode of Powerpuff Girls Z and took this snip from the closing credits. The small title on the left says "sakuga kantoku" or "Animation Supervisor/Director." PPGZ was done in two short standalone episodes, so I assume that the bigger type on the right give the names of the two people who did these segments. The one on top is the one I'm especially interested in. I can read the katakana for the surname: "Abe" (a common surname, as in Abe Shinzo, the current prime minister).

Can anyone give me a romaji transliteration of the two kanji characters that make up the given name?

Edit: Never mind: I tried one more path and got the info from Toei's PPGZ page which has all the staff listed. It's Masaki Abe, a longtimer who's done a bunch of AD work for classic series such as "Puss-in-Boots," "Blinky the Fushigi Koala" aka "Noozles," and "Jeanie, the Girl Whose Hair Floats in the Breeze."

(And while we're at it, why katakana for the family name? Seems odd.)
