Japanese Anyone??

Post by Gonzai »

Ok, so I have been studying Japanese for about 6 months now with my tutor Mayumi-san.
I do so, because one day I am going to marry a Japanese man and move to Japan. ^_^
Anyway, I am always searching for things on the Internet in order to help me learn new
things, and I came across a couple interesting sites. The first one is this:

http://www.japanesepod101.com/

They have some great lessons. They have audio, and then you get notes with the audio to
help with pronounciations, Katakana, Kanji & romaji as well as english. It is actually a
pretty cheap course. ^_^

The next one is one of my favorites - Kevin & Aaron from

www.ispeakjapanese.net.

They have a beginning 5 lesson course, as well as their Facebook page and a bunch of videos
called Happy Hour Japan, which is on the site. They also have a course called Japanese Accelerator,
which is an interactive course. You can't get into the course right away, as there is a waiting list,
however, it is worth the wait. ^_^

Anyway, I know this was totally random, but thought I would post it for any of you who might
be thinking about learning some Japanese, or just brushing up. ^_^

Anyone else have any cool sites that you might use??

I use jisho.org as my main dictionary. I also use the iPhone app KanjiBox to drill kanji. It even lets you practice writing them. It's good prep for the jlpt.

Apparently took too long replying, and the forum ate my post. X|

My go-to dictionary. Love that it looks kanji up for you by radical. Under the multi-radical kanji option. Perfect for if you don't know the pronunciation, or the IME pad on your Japanese toolbar isn't working. :D Plus, you don't need to know the "main" radical like you would if you were using a paper kanji dictionary. If you know how to count strokes, you can narrow it down even more.

Love the "common words" and "starting kanji" options on the main search as well. Works very well when I'm trying to translate something handwritten and I can't quite make out one of the kanji.

You might want to look at this site Tae Kim's site. It is a grammar resource/blog. I haven't used it, but I hear good things about it:

http://www.guidetojapanese.org/learn/

Also, you might want to look into getting a textbook. I think the Genki series and the Japanese for Busy People are popular among the self-study crowd.
