How to display my adorable new toys?

Post by jcaliff »

So I recently (as in yesterday for the Alliance) got in some ridiculously cute Legend of the Galactic Heroes figures. Pictures as shown. :) They don't stand on their own, but they do have little clips in the tops of their heads, so I was thinking about hanging them somehow.

Does anyone have any good display ideas? My only stipulation is that it not be a permanent change, so no sticking their feet into polymer clay or anything like that. Thanks!

Hector the Collector loved these things with all his soul,
Loved them more than shining diamonds, loved them more than glistenin' gold.
Hector called to all the people,"Come and share my treasure trunk!"
And all the silly sightless people came and looked...and called it junk.

At first I thought, that's a cute idea! But a little seasonal. But your idea gave me the idea to look at ornament hangers on google. They don't all look like trees, there are some really cute ones out there. I think for now I'm going to buy some inexpensive wire ones. I like the swarovski crystal ones, but that might be a bit much. :D

Thanks so much! Any other ideas are still welcome. :)

My favorite way I've seen people display these are on a cork board using pins. My friend used to do this and decorate the board with fancy paper backings, ribbon, post cards and other things. I found a few simpler examples on MFC:

Those are cute too! I might try that as well. If I had the nerve, I could pin them to my pin board by my desk at work, but I don't think I'm that brave. ;)

I was going to say similar to what Kuroi said. I have a set of Psychic Force keychains that I display in a shadowbox (the back of which is made of cork covered with thin fabric). The only problem I had setting it up were two that weren't relatively flat on the back. So they didn't want to hang straight. I solved this by putting a second pin in the cork, strategically placed to keep the figure facing front.

Those are do cute!! ^_^

Many sharp smiles,

If you want them standing like traditional figures, you could use something like Blu-Tack.

I've personally never used it, but from what I understand, it peels right off without damaging the plastic/paint. Not sure if you can use it long-term without damage, though. You'd probably want to do some more research before deciding.
