I'm on dial up, which really sucks
Unfortunately broadband, DSL, cable, etc, etc are not available where I live yet. (Although cable is in process, but it will prolly take years. Arr)

I've been working on getting internet via satellite, but I've yet to find a decent provider. Still looking.
That is exactly the same situation as me :(

Oddy, there is an advantage to dial up. One of the problems of today's society is that we're all in a hurry. Dial up is nice because it's slow and steady with a few quick burts here and there for the excitement of seeing that bit rate jump. The point being is that you know that you'll eventually get there and if you're not in a hurry then just sit back and enjoy that time by thinking "happy" thoughts. Plus it also forces you to go slow. So many people are accustomed to such a frantic lifestyle that it becomes the norm to go fast and they're missing out.

But on the other hand there is broadband. Broadband is nice in that you get the results much more quickly, but like I said, isn't that one of the downfalls of today's society? Don't get me wrong. My cable modem can download with the best of them and I'm all for the speed if I'm in a hurry but then I don't get to think happy thoughts as much.

Waiting for downloads rarely causes happy thoughts :x

I use the DSL at my office that is one mile from home. I do not have a computer or a land phone line at home, so I have time for happy thoughts. :)

I dunno... I like the fact that I can finish checking my e-mail or whatever and then go out and do happy *things*. :)

Plus stupid dial-up kept bumping me off, etc. Or if I had a computer problem (before cell phones) I couldn't have someone on the phone with me, trying to talk me through it.

But... it is more expensive. X|

My thoughts are MUCH happier with cable than dial-up. :)

Wow, and I thought I was the only one with snail connection here. We have choices here, but since my mom is paying the bills, I have to be content until I move out. She always says when I ask for DSL 'Why do you need to go so fast? All you do is check email!' X|

But she doesn't know how aggravating it is to download stuff! :hurt: She's computer illiterate... :l

Really? I don't know if I have a fast connection for multiplayer games. I have a great programmer.
