having trouble w/ custom avatar

Hey mods/betarians!

Ok so, I've been having an avatar problem since
the beta site re-do and I just assumed maybe
it was because of the previous avatar issue
when the site kinks were being worked out.

But I tried again today and nada.
Basically heres whats going on (or isnt lol!):

I use to be able to upload a custom avatar (one that
exceed the 100X100 size or the KB ) and would just
insert the URL in the option for the "Upload Avatar from a URL"

I try it again now and nothing!

I get the error message saying it exceeds
the 100 X 100 size.
Which doesnt make any sense since plenty
of members are able to use URL avatars just
honkie doorie.

Soo.. what am I doing wrong on my end?

You know, I'm pretty sure Magician intentionally broke the url avatar option in order to work out some bugs, but I'm not sure if he ever fixed it. Sorry I'm not more help.

You answered your own question. You are trying to use an avatar larger than the 100x100 50k limits.

It used to be that users could point their avatar to a URL and get around the size limits set on the board here. The latest version of the phpBB software changes the way the "Upload Avatar from a URL" option works. Rather than hotlink to the URL you enter, the forum code will upload the avatar to the Beta server. It has the same effect now as uploading the image from your computer, and it is subject to the same restrictions. I would bet that if you try to link to an image that fits the size restrictions, it will work for you.

Ahhhh!
That would explain it! So I wasnt just going senile
the software now implements the rules on the url option too.
