7+10 = 7?
7+10 = 7?
Is something funky going on with post count? I don't really pay much
attention to it, but earlier tonight, I happened to notice that I had 1977 posts
which caught my attention as that's the year my sister was born. So, I've
been posting off and on for the past few hours since then. As I was proofing
my last post after submitting it, I noticed "1977. That's my sister's birthyear.
Hey..wait a minute!". Doing a search, I've done about ten posts this evening
and at least the majority of those should've been after the point where I
noticed the 1977 the first time.
Of course, the scary thought is...if only 10% of posts count towards the post
counter...kittens and aernath have MUCH less of a life than originally thought

I think it takes awhile before certain stats update.
I've noticed some members post something early in the morning, but even 8-10 hours later their member info still says that they haven't visited the board for several days. Other stats seem to be on delay as well.
I'm not sure why there's a delay like that, but that might be the cause.
Let's see if tomorrow on your posts count jumps up all of a sudden.

Depends on how much of a life you originally thought we had!kymaera wrote:kittens and aernath have MUCH less of a life than originally thought
*runs off to lick Ichigo stained glass*
ouch ouch ouch!
Note to self: stained glass in sunny window gets HOT
Post count seems to be one that increments right away, though. It's been
going on a 1:1 basis since then. Just seemed odd to me that it would stop.
I considered that it might be that if you post too close to your own posts in a
thread (since I'd been answering guesses in the "The Eyes Have It" thread),
it might not count (to discourage spammy types of posting).
But there are two reasons that doesn't seem valid:
1) The numbers still wouldn't add up as I had made several posts outside
of that thread.
2) There's at least one person who hasn't really found a thread to post in
besides "Something fun" and they have more than two posts
I think Perv-chan has just rigged the system to keep herself firmly in the
top 15. It's all a plot by the unholy trinity of Perv-chan, Rurippe and
Baakay to keep me down!

Maybe the system only counts the ones that are worth reading ? (and it must have a serious margin of tolerance !)kymaera wrote: Hey..wait a minute!". Doing a search, I've done about ten posts this evening

The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?

We'd all have single digit post counts then (and for a lot of us, that singleIn_Gabriel_We_Trust wrote: Maybe the system only counts the ones that are worth reading ? (and it must have a serious margin of tolerance !)
digit would be 0).

--Jacques Futrelle, "The Problem of Cell 13"Professor Van Dusen was remotely German. For generations his ancestors had been noted in the sciences; he was the logical result, the master mind. First and above all he was a logician. At least thirty-five years of the half-century or so of his existence had been devoted exclusively to proving that two and two always equal four, except in unusual cases, where they equal three or five, as the case may be.
Is it significant that 10 + 7 could also be stated as 2 + 2 + 2 +2 +2 +2 + 2 + 2 + 1. So under unusual circumstances, the correct answer could be as low as 13 and as high as 21?
Just a thought.
