Post text widths

Post by Keropi »

Is the reason texts in posts are different widths because people are using different resolutions on their computers?

I notice some member's posts are very narrow while some are so wide that they make me have to scroll right to read them (sort of like what often happened at Animanger). Or is there another reason?

Well, I can't speak for others, but I purposely make my text narrow. I just
prefer the look of text blocks, rather than the long lines. All you have to do
is hit "enter" to start a new line. :)

I know sometimes if someone posts a large image, it will break the
dimensions of the forum and cause you to scroll all the way to the right to
read an entry.

I happen to use 1280 x 800 resolution, but that doesn't effect the size of
the text input box for me.

Thanks for explaining that. That explains the narrower text posts.

I'm using 1024 X 768 (not the widest screen resolution, I know), but it appears that it is some people's texts widths that are causing scrolling situation and not the pictures. I was just wondering what might be causing that. :shrug

Quite a lot of things.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

There's nothing in Beta right now to limit the displayed width of a post. That doesn't mean that there won't be something on the new Beta. I have run across hacks to fix this problem in my searches and would not have a problem installing one.
