Cant seem to add a gif to my signature

I notice most people are able to put a gif in their signature.. and well I did the bbcode [img]and[/img] at the end of the link where the picture is uploaded but nothing pops up!!
when i tried the same thing w/ a jpg it worked.. what am I doing wrong?

I tried to help! - The link is from Geo-cities... so I think that may have something to do with it. The Gif appears fine - but when you re-fresh the page it become a 'X' hmmmm

EDIT: - > well it seems to be working now... probably a geo-cities thing.. hmm.
