toys on mandarake BWA

Post by soda »

Some examples of what they expect people to pay for some stuff. I'm not one to sit here and judge what these should cost because I've got some pretty expensive toys myself so I'm pretty certain these prices are the going rate. The top one is the most expensive one.

Yowsah! 8O Toy collectors are as nutty as us cel collectors! :) (That last little critter eating the spagetti is too cute though. Wonder what the little guy in the box is actually like... is it a hard plastic thing or tin or what? Hmmmm, oughta go back and hit "translate.") I've never clicked any of the other Mandarake tabs other than the anime cel one... didn't really notice what an extensive selection of other stuff they offered!

I wonder how old some of these toys are. Their packaging is similiar to the US packaging used during the 1950s. It's hard to believe that they're charging 1.5k for that first one, but then some of the toys in US go for all kinds of crazy amounts...especially if they're in their original packaging.

Makes you wonder how much all those Pokemon cards will be worth one day.

Yes, the Ramen monsta is pretty cute. The price tag, however, isn't.

Actually, cutie, you need to move that decimal point one more over. That's right! The Ultra Seven model is starting at over $15,500 USD. 8O

I'm a big Ultra Seven fan myself, but you won't see me bidding on that...LOL.

If anyone was to buy the item for over $15k, would they tear open the packaging to assemble the plastic toy? LOL
I can imagine one of the little rods snapping and they'd think "Oh crap, that just cost me $1k" Image

As much as I try to appreciate the toy collecting ethos, spending that much on a tray of mass-produced plastic parts is obsurd.
With that kind of money I know that I'd prefer to commission a sculptor to make me a set of completed garage kits.
Heck, if it's Ultraman we're talking about- you could commission a whole live-action series for $15,000! Image

Kraft-master,
I actually have an Ultra Seven resin statue from X-Garage that I got off eBay for a tiny fraction of the cost of the unassembled toy on BWA.

I never got into toys... Because if you open the toy or even accidently bend the box it makes the value drop like 50%

p.s. I VOTE FOR THE RAMEN eating Toy!

I love toys and am an avid collector. Makes perfect sense to me, just as
a cel wouldn't make sense to some folks. It's whatever floats your boat
and fuels your passion.
