Some *really* nice and rare Miyazaki items for auction! I was impressed to see Howl's Moving Castle sketches, an On Your Mark cel, and some Panda Ko Panda layouts. A bit disappointing on other fronts, though...

Seems like people couldn't wait to throw their bids in already! The 'Original Art' section is popular.

I saw a wonderful Tetsuo Hara shikishi but the last one I saw sold for 250,100y pricing me out of the runnings by a long way...

Not so sure it should be called the Big WEB Auction, more like the Big GHIBLI Auction; so much Miyazaki stuff floating around.

So I smiled and was happy
and behold;
things did get worse...

i placed a bid on a big-web auction and i am a first timer. i have a few questions...

i placed a bid on a cel and am the highest bidder, however i want to change my maximum bid. i tried to place a significant amount for my original bid, but the site would only allow me to bid in increments of 100 yen (computer glitch?)... so now, of course, my maximum is close to the current price. i want to raise it. how do i do this?

*edit* i finally figured it out. :bny

I've never bid in a BWA, but I imagine that it's like their Everyday auctions. So, just place another bid. :) When you click on the "Go to Auction" page or "My Page" there should be a box with the current highest bid--just replace that with the max you are willing to spend, and hit bid.

FYI, Mandarake only allows bind increments of 100 yen--they don't want any weird numbers, I guess. So, it's no glitch in the system or your computer. That's just the way they run auctions.

In the same boat :D. A Part of me wanted to find some killer JK sketchese but since I am already in the middle of a few deals it was better that nothing popped up for BWA.

Yeah really. I found myself humming the Laputa Opening song while I was looking at BWA.

Have you noticed that many of the auction ending times are like YJ's?

Those 4:00AM Pacific Standard auction ending times are rough on the body let me tell you. :coffee: Was it like that way last BWA and I just didn't notice?

8O I said the same thing after seeing this auction. I really hope somone here or on RS gets it.

I'm safe as well. Nothing interests me this time round. Several nice DBZ cels in there though.

Good luck to all who are/will be bidding! :yay

another wish cel with a lower starting price:

I'm sure the auctions close around the same time every year and that's usually 1-2 hours after the best YJ auctions close.
Here in the UK, the Mandarake auction closing times are between 2-3pm which was good for me when I finished work at 1pm. Now I'm usually a little later getting home so the timeframe is tighter. There have been occasions when I've cut-off from work to return home to bid on stuff then I head out again for the final hour.

Nothing for me this time, well nothing I can afford. Laputa's one of my favorite Ghibli/anime films of all time and I was always wondering how much a cel or sketch from this scene would go for.

I think this is about the most I've seen a rough genga go for, I couldn't quite work out why the price was so high then I looked at who they were saying the artist was... 8O
