question about big web auction
question about big web auction
Greetings.
So I'm quite new to this regarding Mandarake's big web auctions.
I wanted to register. The help page says that I should click the "Join Big Web Auction" tab, but there is nothing there.
Is this big web auction only available during specific times?

The Big Web Auction(BWA) is only done about 4 times a year or so. The last one was in July, so I think there should be one in October or so.
Mandarake releases a magazine filled with items availble during the BWA generally about a month or so prior to the start of the auction. If you live outside Japan, I believe the current price is $20($5 for the magazine and participation fee + $15 shipping). Or, you could do what most of us do, which is wait until the the BWA stars and then just oogle the items.
Each BWA generally has a theme(anywhere from sports to a particular anime), so many of the items availble during the BWA fit that general theme. Unless that anime is the predominant theme(ie. the last two were heavy St. Seiya), then there will only be a couple of items from a particular anime.
It costs 500 yen to participate in the BWA, and if you win an item, you'll pay the items price plus a 10% comission(and shipping, of course).
I think that's the basics for bidding...

Hmm maybe it's "Rulers of Time"? The cover looks like a DBZ parody...

Yes, I remember that...back in 2006 when we did that.
Unfortunately, someone thought that the program was making a profit and informed Mandarake that scans of their catalog were being 'sold'. Mandarake issued a 'cease and desist" letter, and although no profit was ever made from this(because it all went to buying the catalog and sending it to the US), we could no longer continue this program.
I know, I used to enjoy it too. I'd oogle those pages for hours.
