I purposely avoided looking at the auctions until they were closed since I'm trying (note "trying") to be good. I just noticed that cel you linked to Keropi - the art is stunning in it, but sheesh!!!! $$$$$$$$$$$Keropi wrote:Okay this one is even nuttier. I wonder if Mandrake has any problems with non-paying bidders like we do on Ebay. I could just see an auction like that one getting way over-priced, and then the bidder totally backing out. Just a wierd thought on my end!

Wow...that is a stunningly beautiful cel! That price though...ouch. I can hear my wallet screaming from in the other room. ^_^;S.Wolfie wrote:I purposely avoided looking at the auctions until they were closed since I'm trying (note "trying") to be good. I never really though about someone not paying to Mandarake before you mentioned it, after reading your post I pondered on the topic and here is what I came up with. I would assume that on the normal everyday auctions, since you do not have to actually give any real adress or payment details to bid it is enteirly possible for someone to be a malicious and rise the price and then not pay (although you would have to consider why anyone would do this, I mean it does seem pretty pointless). But with the Big Web Auction I dont think that would be occur so often and I do not think it would be all that possible. As mentioned before there isnt any real reason for anyone to jack up the price and not pay on purpose, and sine you have to pay 5 dollars to just bid it would make the whole idea even more pointless. Also I think a majority of the people that bid do so online, and sine the only way to pay Mandarake online is a credit card, they would have your cc details and could probably hold you liable if you refused to pay. And sine Mandarake is the seller, unlike eBay or YJ, they woudl go after you probably with quite a bit of presistance.
And anyway since bid incriments are allways by 100 yen, and since there are so many otakus (that are willing to pay 700,000 for a cel) Im sure they wouldnt have a problem just having the next highest bidder take the cel, and they would only loose 100 yen.
Sorry for the rant

Those Elf Kakyuusei closing pan cels were only shown during the ending credits of the last episode of the OVA. The anime took place at a High School and after the story concluded and the ending credits came up on the screen those pan cels were shown. The anime producers were trying give a little more closure to the story and show how the girls looked like after they graduated from High School. I guess you could say that they are the ULTIMATE Elf Kakyuusei cel from the OVA because there is only one cel of each of them looking that way.Queen_Serenity wrote:

That Utena cel was very nice...Utena cels were never released, and to find one with a matching background...And just a great shot of Utena like that is extremely RARE. I would have paid up to $1500 for that cel if I had the funds...I've always expected to pay $500+ for a nice Utena cel...Since they are this rare...I'm just glad I got my Anthy cel...The cels themselves are so worth it...The detail and beauty of them...Mannn...I just wish there was more out there ;_;!

Thank you for the info! I wasn't aware of that. That certainly does drastically increase its value. I'll have to add that OVA to my 'to watch list.'Keropi wrote:Those Elf Kakyuusei closing pan cels were only shown during the ending credits of the last episode of the OVA. The Battle Athletes hanken cels were OK...But...I find it funny that animaxis owned all of those when I went to see them last year. While there...I remember seeing all of those in person at their store. Risa said she was having a few japanese collectors coming in after me to buy hanken cels...wonder if they got any turn-around deal or good trade offer on them
