Revised subject: Luna sketches heading HOME! *woot*!!

Post by Baakay »

Some while ago, in one of the paper auctions or other purchases I've made this spring (I don't remember which!) I discovered an "extra."

I have this set of six pieces of paper. One is a copy layout, marked "TV, #31" and the other five are original sketches of a cute little sequence of Luna getting surprised -- A1 through A5.

(gif removed in deference to those on dial-up :P )

Here's the thing: A1 has had its lower right corner dog-eared. It also looks as though these sketches were perhaps inadvertently squashed sideways into a file cabinet or something as they have a semi-crease down the left side leading to a dent of sorts. Again, it looks like they just weren't stored as carefully as they might be. However! I do know that creases can be ironed out of paper (learned that from my new archivist boss). I also know that I hate irons with a passion :P

Since I'm not a Sailor Moon collector I want someone to have this set that would enjoy it. I have no concept of what it might be worth. I slapped up a quick-and-dirty gif, and will come back and add the picture of the crease as soon as I unload it from my camera.

....
[Rest removed because it's not pertinent any longer]

I'll be darned if I can get these papers to show their true selves to you.

I darkened the scans for the gif (no, they're NOT dirty). And I've darkened this picture, too. I guess you can see the crease ok in the two at upper right. They're all creased in the same way.

Full disclosure, don't you know :)

I'm awfully curious, where did you get the sketches from? I won a YJ auction featuring those exact same sketches (g40488173) about 4 months ago. I paid for them through SMJ and after two months I was told that is was possible the seller never shipped them. So I never did get the sketches at the opening bid of 1,000 yen and I thought it was because the seller didn't want to sell to a deputy service. :? I'm so confused...

Oho!!! We have a winner!!

They did -- I think -- come in a package from SMJ. /hmm Couldn't get over the fact that they were there (in a package with other sketches -- maybe the Kenshin set?) and that they had been poorly treated. It never occurred to me to think they might be a misdirected auction as they were in the same BAG even...

Wow, this is so cool! Just checked the closed auction page and, sure enough that's the same group. Well how cool can you get.

Send me your address in a pm!

CHEER!! I'm so glad to get them where they were supposed to be!

Thus, the offer period is offically OFF! :)

Glad this had a good resolution!

But hey, spill! How do you get creases out of paper? (Not only sketches, but I found a couple of Kil Bill 2 half-posters that could use some treatment!)

I'm not selling 'em, sweetie, I'm sending them back to SME since they are rightfully hers!

As to the creases question... according to my new boss-lady, if you put a regular iron on a fairly low temperature and put the sketch upside down and press the back, the creases will be at least made substantially less visible.

Come to think of it, that would almost have to work because you have to press sewing patterns if you want to re-use them after they've been stored awhile. I've never tried it on a regular sketch, but I know it works with water-damaged documents...
