Gawd...I know. Animaxis is out of their gourd.
Any sensible business would figure...
"Hmmm...OK...We haven't sold this thing in 3 years, and everytime we have a sale we either don't discount it, or we do but not more than $100 dollars. Hmmmm...This time how bout we *REALLY* discount it?"
Nope...Not ANIMAXIS. I've all but lost hope on buying on of my Wishlist cels still up there b/c of them -_-.
There's some horrid hanken cels up there they're asking around $800 for, that would be LUCKY to sell for $100-$200.
They have sold some of their hankens for several grand in the past b/c they were desirable, incredibly rare images.
They seriously don't get it.
And this is coming from somebody who's met with the Animaxis president. He's very hard-headed.

Hey Poester,
I hear ya. I noticed "your" hanken is still up there. "My" hanken is still up there. In fact, after my latest perusal of all 16 pages, I don't think they've sold anything yet.
After experiencing several of these "sales", I have a theory that no decent looking hanken will ever go below 100,000 yen. Oh, well.

With a dwindling fan base for many of these older animes, you'd think that Animaxis would lower the prices. Tenchi items can't command the prices they did six years ago, so expecting a hanken of Ryoko and Ayeka to sell for over 1K seems absurd.
Perhaps they bought these items during the heyday for Tenchi Muyo and expected to make a huge profit...?

What happened is the owner of Animaxis was partnered with another guy. They were also partners with AIC. The other guy dipped out and in order to save face with AIC, the new owner of Animaxis bought all of AIC hanken stock (at the time)...For over 1 million US dollars.
And, like I said before...The owner of Animaxis is VERY hard-headed. All of my attemtps to reason with them have failed, getting replies like:
"Although you beleive the worth of these cels are lower than our estimates...Many of our customers beg to differ. We sell out of MANY of our hanken cels each sale."
Most all of my e-mails with generous offers over current value have been ignored.
Even when I was there before the hankens went up for public sale, my lower offers were rejected. I even had to tell the owner how to take care of the cels who were beginning to get those dreaded water stains from humidity >.</!
