Animaxis - Hanken

Post by metheus »

In case anyone isn't on the Animaxis mailing list, they announced their next sale of Hanken cels to begin the evening of August 17th. The prices seem pretty marked up, higher than last year even, but the letter as in the past notes some will be discounted up 90%. No real thoughts, guess I'll leave it for others to add any thoughts on this all. The letter also notes below that "We will update on August 17," so maybe the list and pricing changes at that point. The current list of hanken is at:

FINE FREAKING-LY!

That Ryoko heading their message will be mine! If the price is right! That's a major wishlist item for me *_*! I'd also love the Diva crotch shot! It should be low enough now...But...Who knows!

Animaxis has always asked for outrageous prices on their hanken cels >.</!

But...Theur sale prices will be waaaaaay lower that what they're asking now!

There are a couple of hanken cels I miiight consider. and if the cel I want is not 90% off I'm not bothering! It would still be too much!

I wonder if new hanken cels might be uploaded?

Sorry, coppied it out of my email, and the ever "helpful" MS Exchange just adds itself to the URL. I should of known better since it always does it but it was sort of a hurried lunch break. Thanks for posting the shortened correct URL.

I highly doubt anything I'd want will be 90% off, which is just as well because most of them would still be about 300 bucks and I can't really part with that much right now. :D

There are a lot of nice "Pretty Samy" hanken cels there....but, at $3000 for some of those....eep.

Considering that the only commercial cel I have ran at $500, I can't see spending over that much for a hanken. However, at 90% off of their asking prices, I might consider a few.

...But either way, you know they'll make a profit, even if the hankens are discounted.

Well, depending on the prices here's what I'm going for:

http://www.animaxis.com/en/shop/product ... 31644%2D00

The only Ryoko cel I'll ever need! I never thought this would show up. Never thought an actual hand-painted hanken would show up for it...

http://www.animaxis.com/en/shop/product ... 25590%2D00

I've waited damn near 2 YEARS for this to come down to a reasonable price! I swear to all that is good in this world that if it's not at a decent price this time...And if it is and I don't get it...I'm gonna break. I NEED MY CROTCH SHOT!

Ahem...That being said...The Diva SHOULD be at a decent price this go-around...But if the Ryoko isn't under $1k...I won't be grabbing her....Only the Diva. If anyone else is seriously going to go after one of these...PLEASE e-mail me...Maybe we can work something out ;_;! Otherwise...Good luck to you ;P~! I'm a seasoned Animaxis Pro ;P!

Now...For their hanken pricing...

It is ridiculous. But...I was lucky enough to visit their store on my trip to Japan 2 years ago before they even released these hanken cels to the public. Even then they wanted sooooo much for them. I asked my friend who worked there what the deal with the pricing was, and why the owner wouldn't go down...

She said the owner had a partner who ran Animaxis in it's very humble beginnings...They had a bad falling apart, and the new owner paid over $200 million YEN to buy the business from this guy...And pretty much 95% of what he was buying out were the cel stock, and all of these hankens. So...If I paid damn near $2 million US dollars for all these cels...I'd think they were worth a lot too...That being said...The owner knows DIDLY SQUAT about cels.

When I went there...A good number of the hanken cels had moisture damage -_-! A lot of them had moisture in them that could have been hazardous. I even took a Achika hanken out of its frame to explain this to my friend, who in turn told the owner...But it's like he could care less. And when I offered him $600 on a Tenchi hanken the size of a regular-sized cel...He smiled and shook his head no like I was crazy....And wanted $3600 for it -_-!

So...That's where the mentality for this pricing comes from. But I'm glad somebody talked him into having a sale at least ^^'!

Good luck all!

A question for Ms. Poe. Any insight on the framing/matting materials used on some of these? I noticed a lot of the newer listed ones are unframed. The framed ones though, are the material's archival or are they using ordinary off the shelf products? Acid based stuff is evil.

Well...I never got a straight answer, but the frames are just the crap ones AIC has always put their stuff in. Yeah...They look nice, but it's not UV glass...And Icouldn't tell you about the matting. When I looked on the back of one of the matts...It didn't say anything about it being acid-free =/! But...I'm hoping they are, since they're matts...But...I wouldn't reccommend ANYBODY keep their hanken cels in them...

Yeah, the only hankens I could see going after would be Blue Gender (Unlikely, considering the average age of the hankens animaxis possesses), or http://www.animaxis.com/en/shop/product ... 26070%2D00

... the only Black Heaven cel I know of!

I bought a Hanken last year during their "sale", and I still have no regrets.
It came in excellent condition and beautifully framed as requested.

Ms. Poe, I almost bought that same gorgeous Ryoko last time. I am surprised it is still around. It was a toss up between that and the one I finally decided upon above.

I like 'em big, so that is one reason I held off the Ryoko. It was normal sized. The other one I like but cannot finance is this Battle Athletes hanken :

Well, the frames all of them were in when I was there were in crappy wood frames...If you ask them to be framed...They may have someone who's a pro in japan do it. But...When I looked at them...They were crappy frames...Tape was all over painted plastic inside the frame...etc. It was pretty bad >.</!

But...That BA hanken is gorgeous! I've always loved its set-up. I always thought if it went down far enough I'd snag it...But the Diva & Ryoko take top of the list =)!
