Xenogears' Bart - happy ending ^_^

Actually, he looks more like he's saying "WHY did I trust that weasely Fei guy to go save the girl instead of doing it my own badass self?", but hey, you never know.

Anyway, he's also announcing his new job as Evilminion's Tasty Trade Fodder.

Not quite as prestigious as ruling a country, I suppose, but hey, beats waiting in the dole queue. All he has to do is stand there, look gorgeous and conflicted, and lure in a stellar swap.

You know, I really did not expect to wake up to hate mail this morning. Nor am I particularly happy about it.

This cel circulated on Yahoo Japan for weeks before I decided to take a gamble and purchase it in the hopes that it could tempt somebody into trading me a different Xenogears character. The minimum bid did not change over those weeks, so there was every opportunity for anyone who wanted him to take him home at the exact same price I finally paid.

I thought this would be fun, but hey, apparently fun isn't on the menu. So fine, the damn thing is going to eBay, with a minimum of what I paid including fees, and you can fight over it if you want. Knock yourselves out. Sheesh.

Awwww. I certainly have no clue as to what's going on, but I'm really sorry that someone was a toad and ruined your fun, Cindyminion. I hope this prettyboy fetches you a pretty penny on ebay so you can buy whatever Xenogears cel strikes your fancy!! Go girl go!

Oh wait, let me guess. We had one of those "gosh, how dare you buy the cel if you didn't want him yourself" messages. It's her damn money, and she works hard for it. Who are you (whoever you are) to say ANYTHING about it!

especially considering your wonderful gallery was one of the first and most inspirational to me when I started collecting! So, I wish you the best of luck with your eBay auction

Sorry to have sounded so cranky there, but dang, waking up to a couple of very snotty emails this morning was like taking a cheerful walk through the woods and ending up with two barrels of birdshot in your fanny.

Still, you have my apologies for getting snippy in return, heh.

I figure that if anyone really wants Bart, they can nab him off the 'Bay. And if they don't really want him, they shouldn't have been griping at me in the first place. So if he ends with no bids, he's going right back onto my trade page, and I absolutely refuse to feel guilty about it.

And to zerospace...

Man, you have sorely tempted me. At one point I had made it a personal goal to collect every piece of Xenogears merchandise ever produced. I think I'm close to it, too. And my birthday is Sunday. I've rarely (as in only once) spent more than $200 on any one cel in my collection.... So tempting.... Could be a birthday present to myself.... to bid or not to bid, that is the question

If you do snag Bart, please remind me to run off a lasercopy of the background for your fishing Hisoka cel and tuck it into your package... he really needs a river to be sitting in.

Just sending a hug your way, Cindy. If somebody wanted that cel badly enough to be rude to you about winning him, they should have bid on YJ. It's not like they didn't have the time... :/

As far as I'm concerned, you've done stateside fans a favor by paying all the deputy and shipping fees to import the cel. Since you're listing it for cost, that's a boon to whomever wants to bid.

I wish I was a Xenogears fan-- it's a gorgeous cel. Somebody will pay you what it's worth. I'm sure. Just remember there are plenty of nice collectors still around. Don't let some random freakjobs get you down.

And to Kitt for one of the finest phrases I've heard in months, "mean ol' spooty jackals", heehee!

Just wanted to let you know that there's a happy ending to the story. One of our fellow Beta folks has been eyeing that cel since it was on YJ, and offered to buy it for the same price I paid.

So I went ahead and ended the auction (thus also removing any potential guilty twitching if it sold for more than I paid).

The cel has a new home, I get the satisfaction of knowing that the new owner will adore it, and best of all, it's now out of reach of the mean ol' spooty jackals.

not only did you sell the cel to a beta member, where you know it'll be cherished. also the dumbasses that sent hate mail probably realize or at least should on what they missed out on.
