Married? Single? Or Other?

Post by star-phoenix »

Hey everyone!

I have been absent a lot lately due to LIFE in general. But, a friend and I were just talking about Anime Beta and wondered how many people here are married. So, I decided to post the poll. I am pretty sure it was posted before in the past. But, since we have several new members, I wanted to ask this again!

Married = Includes any kind of binding contract under state or country law.
Single = No legal contract under law (includes single, boyfriend, girlfriend, friend, etc)
Other = Common law or whatever else you consider to not being classified under the other two categories.

Does anyone collect art with their significant other? Or do you keep it to yourself for the most part?

I put other, since I am a actually a widow. My husband died 23 years
ago, and I have never re-married. The love of my life lives in Japan,
so technically, I could have probably put singe as well, but we can
always dream, right?? /heh

How about a status option for "depends what mood I am in"...?
LOL!
:rollin :rollin

At times when I'm shopping, I like to think "single," so that it's
less of a guilt-trip when the bills come in. Once they do, I'm "married."
Other times, when cel-senpai pisses me off, I become "other"-- as in
I may be a widow if he doesn't redeem himself soon.

Married with a kid (who actually was the one who got me interested in anime...)

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. In 2005 the nays had it with 64%, but that went down to 60% in 2008 and 58% when I reprised the poll earlier this year. I'd guess this reflects a gradual maturing of the regulars, which, in time, puts one in greater and greater risk of entanglement in wedlock.

To paraphrase Homer (Simpson): Anime cels. The cause of, and the solution to, all of life's problems.

I am thankfully still single, and have no interest in changing that status right now.

I put other because I'm not legally allowed to get married in my state. But we would qualify for common law if it were legal and we are engaged.

I'm the primary art collector, but every now and then something calls out to my SO and she has acquired a small collection, which she keeps in my cel books.

since I fail so much at filerting with girls I might end up single for life :D but one thing I'm feeling right now, I can't do much of anything if I don't feel good about myself consistently...I wonder if money would help me in some ways.

I'm married... and my husband is as big a cel junkie as I am :P. In fact, I believe he's actually been collecting for longer than I have :D.

Married; my hooby bought our first cel. I was definitely more addicted than he was but now we are on even ground. Cels continue to be enjoyable but actively collecting them has taken a backseat to other things. It's nice when someone can share your interests. Gives more meaning and greater purpose to the hobby.

Single - at this stage. What with full-time work, full-time study, managing two investment businesses & a charity (non-profit) + family to look after - I get precious little 'chill' time, let alone any time to go out or devote to a significant other.

I have also unfortunately had the experience & learnt the lesson that some people can be quite fake - meaning they are more attracted to the idea of easy-money instead of the actual person - so actively tend to play the wealth aspect down. In that regard, it is hard to decide whether to trust someone or not?
(Hope that does not sound too pretentious?)
My Cel Gallery can be found here:

A growing collection of Escaflowne, Evangelion, FMP, Fate/Stay Night plus other cels that are among my Favourites. No cheap & nasty stuff here.
Come, check out the cutesy female & Mecha madness!!

As single as single can be, and it will probably always be that way unless I get a nose job or something XD More time for me to focus on my hobbies and stuff, though :)

I am in a relationship... I don't plan on getting married anytime soon. I legally can not marry in TX right now anyways so I am glad I am not ready for that yet.
