How did you get there?

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

I'm really sorry to hear that about you and your husband. Hopefully your string of bad luck has come to an end (it's probably time to play the lottery now!
). My husband had USAA insurance and they gave us a hard time when I cancelled his policy, trying to convince us to stay with USAA and since I'm his wife they'll add me on and such. Good thing I didn't now.
Plus for some reason their insurance rates for the both of us was almost $600 more than what I'm currently paying with my long-term insurance provider.
Something didn't make sense to me.
I wish you good luck and hope this gets straightened out for you.

Wow, you guys are really awesome!
Thank you all so much for the support and kind words!!
Things are looking better today. I managed to get to work and home again (yay for coworkers), and even had a fun night out. Although, me on two hours of sleep and strong black coffee makes for some major tweak moments, LOL.
We got the insurance fixed! I shouldn't say "we," really. M did all the work of contacting USAA yesterday to find out wtf, and the person he talked to was WTF when the accounts were looked at. Yep yep, USAAs notes showed my auto policy merging into his, and they had nothing about it being dropped totally. So we got reinstated, and I have been covered "since" November 5th. *HUGERELIEFSIGH*
I still don't have my car *sob sob*, but we got it out of the tow lot and to a collision repair shop and I think even drunk-lady has insurance too. I think we'll know more today.
M also had the brainwave of getting an SUV of some kind for a rental car. That'll help loads in finishing this move and emptying the apartment. USAA assured us that if drunk-lady doesn't have insurance, they'll pay for my rental and then go after her with the bill.
Things are coming together. I can still walk and talk and I didn't kill or maim my husband. I will NEVER suggest someone use USAA, but whatever. LOL The whole insurance gig is kind of a pickle no matter how it's done, anyway. And I do still get to take time out of my work day to go to court. yuck. This has been a few days of firsts. First major accident while driving, first ticket, first court date.
I could have done without the whole shebang.
Thanks again, everyone. I'm amazed how how all of your replies actually made me feel loads better!!

There are always insurance horror stories when ever we need their help the most. (At least it seems that way.)
I'm so glad that they got everything worked out. I've never heard a bad thing about USAA until now. It's pretty normal for us military folks to use it. But especially since they work with a lot of military people, they shouldn't have an issue with a couple being geographically separated. That is just too strange.
I'm very happy for you that things are coming together.

I've never had any problems with USAA either. I've never had a bad dealing or heard anything negative. The only thing I really don't like about them is that my dad is connected to my account. I haven't lived with him in almost 20 years. Sure wish his name could be removed but since he's the military tie . . .

Best of luck with your move!
Can you hear this fangirl squee?!
