8 days on

Post by Krafty »

I appreciate your comments, folks- cheers!

Ronin/Blaster, I thought it'd be something you'd particularly like ^__^
Belldandy, I know you've just been visiting this thread to look at my body some more ;)
Here's another series of pics which show the tattoo towards the end of the healing process [8 days]. As you'll see, the brusing/redness is gone with only a little flaking skin now. Once the wound is completly healed and watertight in a few days I'll be able to use a moisturiser which really brings out the shading.
As you say, Belldandy, the fur texture appears very natural and realistic. I like the way that there are various depths of tone and the fur is directional. I'm always impressed with what tattoo artists can achieve nowadays. It's a far cry from the old Anchor & 'I Love Mum' days :)

Had another couple of sessions on my forearm 3 weeks ago so now it's healed and I can show some pics. It's really coming together now ^__^

The first session was 9 hours and I returned the following day for another 6.5 hour drilling- I now know what it's like to be a pin cushion! Thankfully we got a lot done in that time, we didn't have breaks for more than 3mins at a time so it progressed well.

It's now 70% complete. 12 more hours should see it through. Bit's left to do include: having a chrysanthemum on my inner bicep; the carp will have coloured speckles [either blue or red]; the inside of the peony flower will be yellow; the tiger will have some darker shading in places and plus his eyes will be coloured yellow/green.

Thanks for taking a look, Belldandy + NSP ^__^

The last 2 sessions cost 850 Euros [approx US$1200].

In fact, my trip ended up costing more because I missed my return flight and had to buy another ticket which was a whopping 140 Euros. It wasn't my fault either- the Departures board published that the plane was leaving from from Gate 50 when it actually went from Gate 55... Sleeping on Barcelona airport's cold stone floor overnight wasn't much fun, especially whilst nursing this 'wound'.
Still, I've learnt from my mistake- never trust what the signs or airport staff say ;)
Looking forward to the final session next March!

Are you adding any color or just keeping it b&w?

Also, what shop/artist are you using?

The colour info can be seen in my post above ;) The colouring will be minimal, I like black & grey on its own but a little colour will really make sections stand out.

The artist, Nicklas Westin, is Swedish but based in Barcelona, Spain. He's a respected artist on the TattooArtists.org site and you can see his personal tattoo-based webpage/gallery here: http://www.fotolog.com/nicklaswestin

Good choice with colors.

I will check out his stuff.

I've been feeling the need for some more ink lately, and I think my bro is getting me a gift certificate to my parlor for x-mas

What are you using for aftercare?

Wow Krafty! It's looking great!!

Did you chose that particular artist for his work with asian style tattoos?

I bet the color tints will really make everything pop. Can't wait to see it finished! :D
