It might not be a valid contract anymore as the user is no longer registered. I recommend trying to find an answer from ebay as to whether you are still bound by the contract. If you are, then ship it but definitely with delivery confirmation. If not, then it might be prudent to refund the money, but you can also just ship it with delivery confirmation. I don't think paypal would ever take away your money if you had proof it was shipped and delivered.JWR wrote:So long as the person paid the money and you were able to verify the transfer it into your account without any problems then you should hold up your end of the contract and ship the cel.

Actually paypal will automatically give you a negative balance... even with signed proof.

Shipping to France, Sellers have no protection.
If I were you, I would refund the money. The reason he isn't registered, isn't something I would like to guess at.
And since he's not registered, you can file a non-paying bidder right away and retrieve all percentage fees.

I believe that Killua is correct; the contract was between two eBay members (with whatever 'protection' that may entail), and any obligation that you might have had ended when he no longer met that qualification. If I were in your position, I would use PayPal's refund option to return his money, and then I'd relist.

Well. I have a frustrating update about the situation. I received a couple emails from the buyer this morning. The first stated that (after the package sat in customs for about 3 weeks while I waited for a reply to an email I had sent Chronopost about the situation, which I NEVER received!) the buyer tried to pick it up yesterday and customs told him that it had been shipped back to me that day. Then the second email stated customs wanted to charge him 3% to 30% for the value of the package. So instead of paying the almost $70 fee for his item he told them to ship it pack to me because they told him if I was to reship it "normal expedition", whatever that is, airmail?, that the package wouldn't be taxed by customs.
So I'm getting two versions of a story as to why this package is on its way back to me.
Even though communication has been pretty decent with this guy and he seems fairly nice, I'm very frustrated at losing $30 to ship the package the first time round and now when it gets back to me I'll lose even more money to resend it!
Is there a way to get refunded by the post office on the $30 shipping I spent or is it a 'to bad so sad' loss? I should have never went through with this deal. To much frustration and headache has built up as a result.

There are many ways but not all are the same.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

The package arrived back to me this morning. The shipping box almost looks like a pancake due to being severely crushed. I guess no matter what shipping you choose there is always this chance of the postal system or customs not giving a crap about packages.
I'll most likely be refunding this buyer, minus the shipping fee that was wasted for Express mail.
