Going away. Maybe for a few days, maybe longer

Like it says.

I believe I need to go find a nice quiet corner to scream in for a little while.

Sometimes the insensitivity and atrocity of the world we're in makes me sick to my stomach. It wasn't the way I was raised to look at life, and I hope my attempts to help people out, support people when they were down, or just give a bit of applause to this or that new acquisition over the last year have made that obvious.

However, it appears that some people are unwilling to accept my frank statements of personal opinion and belief at face value. (I don't have a hidden agenda, honest. I'm too tired to have one).

And, well, this will irk some people, but I'm not evil for having the opinion that not everything George Dubya or his predecessors over the past few centuries was right. Or justified. I'm not perfect but I sure as hell ain't evil.

Nor do I stop and think through the logical implications of every statement I post here. I have to do enough of that in academic work. This is for fun.

Given that I've managed to offend several people by being open and honest, and HUMAN, I think it's time for me to back away.

The vast majority of you are just perfectly wonderful people. I don't want to spoil your fun any more. Thanks for the good times.

I may be back but it's going to take a bit.

You know what, since we all know what this is about, I will apologize. I am going to eat my words and play the jerk on this one. I'd rather do that than have you leave the forum in anger. This is not some lame attempt to garner praise or kiss ass. I truly am sorry. Please accept my apology. We did some talking in PM, and I tried to explain my side of things. Apparently, I was wrong.

PS - As a rule, I don't believe a single thing a politician says 99% of the time, Democrat or Republican.

Baakay, I won't beg you not to leave, because I know there are times when people just need a break to let an unpleasant exchange soften a little. I've done this on other message boards where I've hung out, and had situations arise where I felt I was unnecessarily flamed. And I should say that people our age are hardly less prone to this, both online and in person ... I could tell endless stories about things that were said to my face that in a previous day would have been cause for bloodshed, just for fun, of course, but still, but still.

But remember that there is a larger community that will want to see you back and values your contributions to this board. Rest, recover, but most of all, return.

I don't know what happened and I know that there's been a lot of problems lately in cel collecting but please don't give up on it or us. I can't post too much here at Beta and can't keep up with things but I look forward to seeing your posts everytime and I DO see your updates all the time too! It would be way too boring and stressful around here without you. If a vacation away for a little bit will help to calm the situation and help you to recover from whatever may have occured than please take one but not a permant one.

NO! You don't know how much I enjoy your posts! Every time I see Baakay, I think, gotta see what she has to say here! (By the way, I saw your pics of your daughters, so cute in their costumes!) I think it was a mis-understanding between people on two different wave lengths. Please don't stay away for long!

I'm also ignorant of recent things that have caused you distress Baakay, but I certianly don't want to see you leave Beta for too long.
As Sensei says above, it's sometimes necessary to give things a break then you'll return when things have settled down and have fun posting here again. As you say, you only post here for fun, if you're not having fun- don't post.

Take it easy and pop back when you're happy to.

because I'd never heard of Mr. Dubya, and wondered if he had
was, like, with streamline pictutres or something, to have offended you.
